Government of Mauritius signs Memorandum of Understanding with Balaji Dental and Craniofacial Hospital The Minister of Health and Quality of Life, Government of Mauritius, Hon’ble Anil K Gayan, visited Chennai to select medical professionals for the purpose of surgical missions to the Republic of Mauritius. This team of select medical professionals would visit Mauritius on a regular basis to operate on children needing specialist surgical care. He visited many hospitals and met with pediatric spinal surgeons, pediatric orthopedic surgeons, pediatric ophthalmological surgeons, pediatric oculoplastic surgeons, pediatric neurosurgeons and pediatric anesthesiologist amongst others. Dr SM Balaji of Balaji Dental and Craniofacial Hospital was chosen as mission head and specialist craniofacial surgeon for the mission and was appointed as coordinator to organize and lead the team during their visit to Mauritius. The Hon’ble Minister was invited to our hospital to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purpose of surgical missions to Mauritius. Hon’ble Anil K. Gayan was given a tour of the hospital facilities including the two state of art operating theaters and the inpatient wards. He met with patients who were undergoing surgical treatment for rehabilitation of complex craniofacial and interacted with them. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Hon’ble minister on behalf of the Government of Mauritius and Dr SM Balaji. They jointly addressed the Indian media after the signing of the MoU. Also present on the occasion was Dr K.
