Marize’s new form reminds me of those business tuxedos it makes her seem apt more like an adult
that was honestly something that made me hesitant about adding the gold accents and further brightening her silver so it's closer to white. i was like "she looks so formal, and also like some kind of celestial superhero... she kind of looks like sailor moon..." but then i realized, that's kind of actually the whole point. the point is that she thinks she's The Hero (and she isn't one. she doesn't even understand what that means)
what are some of marize’s horrors to come
hmm... a lot of it i think involves the simple horror of being in an alien's body on an alien planet and nobody seems bothered by it except you. another one is that she gets the impression that her lack of empathy makes her lesser as a hero, and her natural reaction to that is to start trying even harder. how do i put it... marize likes being a hero well enough but she does it because she isn't good at anything else. she couldn't be like her brother and her parents so in her mind, she's already been deemed a failure and is working to catch up. anything less than perfect is unacceptable to her. ive said before that i'm not even sure that she enjoys the violence as much as she enjoys being good at it. she's ruthless and efficient and kills things rather than saving them because it's the most straight forward option. THAT is why the other Ultras worry about her (not dislike her. theyre worried about her wellbeing). but she thinks she is incapable of being worthy of anything. and it slowly eats at her.
zenith showing up as a failed clone like allegro, tripping over everything and eventually finding solace in her own brand new identity, completely stripped of all the expectations she had carried beforehand, is what eventually sets marize off. what do you mean you can just choose to be something else? that's not fair. why can you do that and not me? [SHE CAN ALSO DO THAT]
pondering the merits of making lyle and allegro women also just for fun and ive decided that allegros pronouns are definitely he/him but that doesnt necessarily mean anything. if allegro were to discover that he wanted to be a girl he would be very frightened by this. and if he talked to marize about it and about the idea of change she would be like Who cares. you dont need to change. you know who you are and thats what matters. like i could be red but i dont want to. so im not. and allegro would be like You could be red..? and then marize would go on an extended rant about how most people their age can take different forms and she hates that shes expected to do so because she likes herself exactly the way she is and she wants to accomplish things the way she wants to do them in the form she wants to do them in. she likes the way she is now and she does not want to change. and she "thinks its weird" that everyone expects her to
which is just another way that mari unconsciously tries to make herself the center character + how she clashes with zenith in every aspect (refusal to change vs desire to change) + how allegro continues to not matter in the face of whatever the fuck marize and zenith have going on. and lyle is there
What other techniques do each of the showtime characters fight with instead of beams
hmm marize knows multiple different martial arts techniques she would probably swap between [i dont know anything about martial arts so ill leave that vague]... zenith probably fights similarly to zero, like with her sluggers and stuff... allegro mostly relies on his claws and shocking brute strength, he doesnt have any formal training but he Was raised by kaiju so he can be pretty vicious if really provoked [he eventually learns how to use a sword from Father of Ultra, Jack and Ace later when he gets a sword]... lyle does not fight. he will surrender immediately if threatened. he knows he brings nothing to the combat table
what beam pose do each of the showtime crew use and what do they call their beams? (just realized this doesnt apply to allegro sorry)
IVE BEEN SITTING ON THIS FOR TEN DAYS PLANNING TO DRAW SOMETHING FOR IT AND I HAVEN'T YET ... so im posting it now to see if i remember better.
Marize is learning to master Zoffy's M87 beam, but she can also use the typical spacium beam. Lyle also uses the spacium beam, but his is a little weak and wobbly. Zenith uses a variation of the Wide Shot. i never thought of any special names for them i might do that in the future...
What is the context behind zero asking marize if she did his dad? Did she?...
really really old joke that is no longer true about the world. maris gone through some revisions from her first iteration
i actually dont fully remember the context of that comic beyond "i thought it was funny because mari and zero hate each other" [still true] [they had childhood beef that they both independently decided to take seriously for life] [this was not at all relevant to the plot until i made zerotwo and then i was like oh i might actually be able to utilize this]
how did marize deal with hikari's disappearance, does it play alot into her mindset now?
well... marize never liked her brother much, resenting that he was always so busy- he was an adult when she was born, so they never spent that much time together. i dont think she knows the full context of why he left so she probably thinks hes an idiot and a coward. she doesnt get along well with her family in general since theyre all academics and she was always more interested in fighting/never understood what they were talking about
i dont think hikaris sense of loss and betrayal itself has much impact but the sort of general sense of abandonment sticks to marize. lyles the only friend she ever had before showtime and she likes him more than she likes her family
