Self-confessed killer insults Oscar Pistorius' family
Mr Schultz is understood to be friends with Mark Batchelor, a former
footballer who alleged Pistorius threatened to break his legs over an
ex-girlfriend, and Jared Mortimer, a man with whom the athlete had a row at
a nightclub several months ago, as he waited for judgement in his trial.
Mr Batchelor has been in court throughout the long-running trial, which last
month saw Pistorius escape a charge of murdering Reeva Steenkamp but
convicted of culpable homicide, while Mr Mortimer and Mr Schultz started
attending the hearings this week, along with Pistorius’s former girlfriend
Samantha Taylor, who gave evidence about how he cheated on her.

Mr Schultz denied the claim to journalists outside, saying the Pistoriuses
were seeking to paint themselves as “the victims” and adding: “They’re all
liars, like Oscar”.
The altercation followed further evidence from Kim Martin, Steenkamp’s cousin,
who was called by the state which is seeking the maximum sentence of 15
years for Pistorius for shooting Steenkamp through a locked lavatory door at
his home in Pretoria on St Valentine’s Day last year.
Ms Martin said she did not believe his apology to the Steenkamp family as he
took to the witness box in his trial was genuine.
“I remember crying and it brought back to reality all we were hearing and
it was because Reeva was dead,” she said. “Unfortunately it didn’t seem
sincere.”
Ms Martin said she believed Pistorius should be jailed for his actions.
“I’m very fearful of the accused,” she said. “I have tried very hard to
put him out of my mind. We have even made a point of not mentioning his name
in our house because I didn’t want to spend any of my energy thinking about
him.
“I really believe Mr Pistorius needs to pay for what he has done.
“My family are not people who are seeking revenge. We just feel that to
take someone live to shoot someone behind a door, that is unarmed, that is
harmless need sufficient punishment.”

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel asked her about the claims that Pistorius would be kept
in “inhumane” conditions in South Africa’s prison system.
“I was very worried when I was under the belief that prison conditions
would be bad for him,” she said. “But when I discovered that his
rehabilitation process in prison would actually humane and in keeping with
the dignity of a human being.
“I can say honestly to the court that Mr Pistorius needs to pay for what
he has done, for taking Reeva’s life, for what he has done to my uncle and
aunt and for what he has done to my family but also to his family. Everyone
has suffered here.”
