From HK to NYC|| The Story of the Five Stone Bea
"I would love to have something that is elegant but has a bit of refined attitude. (which is why I was drawn to Anna's designs when I was doing my research)". This excerpt from Mark’s first email sent from Hong Kong to our offices in New York City seemed right on target for the kind of bespoke rings I had just started making with the launch of the Engagement collection.
The emails led to sketches and stories shared between us, until we settled on ‘The One’. This one-of-a-kind Five Stone Bea is what I would call a whopper of a ring. It would span the top of the finger with a nearly seamless set of White Diamonds and just the beautiful Bea prongs in between them. I would make them vaulted -so to speak- so the stones instead of all being flat across the top would curve in the ring setting and mimic the curve of the finger. They taper from the side of the Emerald cut to the Trapezoid to the Trillions. The ring could be 'iced' in delicate pavé on the gallery of the setting and the signature Bea end-tab prongs. This could be the delicate and glorious last step. Its so lovely when we do the hand- set mirco-pavé here in Manhattan. The shimmer is unreal.
When Mark came to pick up the ring in our atelier he left us with this note “....your designs have a beautiful symmetry of intricacy with elegance and a nod towards traditional with attitude. (a confident feminine attitude, which is how I see my love)". And that’s it, in a Diamond Dusted nutshell!
