[HQ] (3000×2000)It’s not a game anymore. Two days until The Final Problem. #Sherlock (x)
Look how happy they are! These smiles are warm as sunshine.
Ok, let’s be clear about some things:
1- John and Sherlock are roomates: What this means for the show is that you have two single men living together. So what do you with it ? You have to show them in their habitat, you have to show the perspective of how this is percieved in the XXI century: examples; the room thing in the Hounds of Baskerville, the newspaper in The Recheinbach Fall, John’s Im not actually gay. You have to do that , not because you are planning on making them a couple but beacuse it is weird for two adult single men to live together these days and people are gonna comment, it’s not queerbaiting.
2. They are also best friends: We all know John’s state when he met Sherlock and we all know just how much Sherlock changed his life and viceversa. The danger of their cases, their daily livehood, the circuntances they’ve have to face it’s bound to bring them closer. But how much? There isn´t a name for quite a relationship when you care about someone that much but you are not actually in love with that person. When you have moments like the hug in The lying Detective, when you see just how scare Sherlock gets when John is in danger and how far he is willing to go to save him,of course it’s love but why does everybody assume it’s romantic love?
3. Narrative: Conan Doyle never intented for them to be a couple. I know, it was the Victorian era, the Oscar Wilde trials and if Moffat and Mark want to change the status of their original relationship, they could but their commenment it’s first and most to the original Doyle stories and it’s what most adaptations have done as well, they have never their relationship romantic because it wasn’t. I know representation is required in Tv but doing it for the ratings or fan service it’s not right and it’s not fair for the creator’s visions.
And you were told from the very beggining what to expect so you don’t get to feel cheated because you thought you saw something else and ignore the rest of the narrative.
I think I know how Sherlock fans felt when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killed Sherlock Holmes. Moffat's and Gaitiss' mothers should write to their respective sons too
Sherlock reacts: "this week really was dedicated to the greatest love story never told"
Just leak the kiss already Mofftiss, you have everyone working for you in the basement so there's really not much to do anymore... There is nothing to lose dads...
*Sheds a single tear*
