While a fairly large environment, the core focus of exploration in ReCore is to find rare resources and items in an otherwise barren environment of Far Eden. At the same time, the game is also heavily focused on building the gameplay dynamic of cooperation between the player and the Corebots they gain access to on their adventure. As such, the game intelligently provides the player with a K-9 Corebot (which can detect nearby treasures in a given area) early on, before combat becomes the game’s primary focus, allowing both of those aspects to come the forefront of play.

Because of the open environment and need for new and frequent challenges in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the game places a great amount of focus on making new mechanics highly utilitarian, where they can be used either as required or optional aspects of different obstacles while still being used by the player in effectively the same fashion. One of the best examples of this in action is the Grapple Beam, which the player can use to A) swing from special nodes one at a time, B) pull shields off of enemies, C) open special doors, and D) use to ride along railings while still keeping their cannon free to shoot at enemies or other obstacles.

The Berserker Lord is the first boss the player faces in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and provides a fairly difficult early encounter when they go up against it. However, the Berserker Lord appears as a boss again later in the game, but even with improved armor, this version of the boss is more meant to emphasize how far the player has come. They have more weapons, special abilities, and experience with Samus overall- and put into practice, this means the Berserker Lord goes down with little difficulty.

An intelligent way of providing an implicit sense of reduced functionality when in the Morph Ball form during the Metroid Prime series is the loss of almost all of the player’s HUD elements. While their health is still present, their mini-map, missile count, and even enemy marker are removed. This reinforces the sense that this is Samus’ ‘alternative mode,’ and pushes the player to use their base mode more than this alternate.

The Artifact Temple in Metroid Prime is meant to feel bizarrely familiar to the player. The blue glowing lines covering many surfaces, the emphasis on rounded, yet heavily segmented, bodies. these are meant to reflect Samus’ suit, and thus, her connection to the Chozo.
