He was a devil. That was what he thought of himself as of that moment. In all honesty, he had no clue who he was, born of two consciousnesses slowly melding together in his body. He'd taken the appearance of the Mayor, but his figure wasn't solidified. The shell he walked in, broken, staggered as his skin crawled. One moment, he was the Seer, the next, the Mayor, and so on. What was he? What did she stand for? What could he do? Who was she anyway?
Go back, help the Colonel! Save William! The Seer yelled.
No, no we must find him. We must get my body back. Go on, forward! The Mayor yelled in response.
No! The Seer screamed, and once again reflecting her appearance, the devil felt her body lunge towards the manor, desperately clawing to get back to the deranged man abandoned there.
Celine! No! We can't, not now. My body first, he couldn't have gotten far! The Mayor yelled again, and again the devil's body shifted to be the Mayor's.
"Enough!" The devil growled, the air around him piercing with a high pitched ringing and the color fading to a monochromatic scheme. The fighting stopped, and the new consciousness took a moment to try and collect his thoughts.
"Stay low, Jim." He heard a voice whisper, and when the devil turned his head, he saw a pair of identical twins, army crawling on the ground. Or, flopping, more like. "Jim, did you get the shot? Look, Jim, the demon. It's the same one that took me. The one, who penetrated deep, deep into my very soul. Oh, oh Jim. Jim." The first twin was now, convulsing? Twitching? Something on the ground.
"Who are you?" The devil asked, frowning. The first twin looked up, and then jumped to his feet. The monochromatic color receded slightly now, so the devil could see clearer.
"Jim." The first said. "And this is Jim. We are Jim." The second Jim, holding a camera, waved.
The devil could only stare, eyebrows knit together, mouth slightly agape.
"Do not fret, demon." The first said, approaching with a wide stance, arms stretched out as wide as they could go. "For I, Jim, will be your savior." He was taking wide, uneven steps now. "I, will be, your friend." And he flopped onto the ground.
The voices were still quiet, thankfully, so the devil could think. "... I don't know who I am." He confided in the Jim. "I came from somewhere dark, and-"
"Then that's you!" The Jim sprung to his feet. "You, are Dark! For I, Jim, and my associate Jim, came from Jim, and from Jim came the Jims of now, and the Jims of long ago are our ancestors, and our descendents will be as Jim as they come!" Through all these words, Jim was circling the devil, still taking wide steps.
"Dark..." The devil mulled. "Yes, it... suits me." He looked up at the Jim, watching him circle. "I am also struggling, with where I stand. There are two sides, pulling me in different directions. They both seek vengence, and both love a man neither can have. But they pull in different directions. What do you believe I should do?"
Dramatically, Jim flailed his arms around. "Of course! You must follow what you feel! In your heart! Do what you think is right, demon! Do it, and you will lose your demonic taste!" Jim then flailed at the devil, who barely caught him and had time to steady himself. "But, above all else, always remember to be very Jim."
Before the devil could react, Jim and Jim sprinted into a run, and he was left alone with the voices in his head. Who was he?
He looked down at his arms and decided he was a man. He liked Damien better, for he was a charmer, a smooth talker, with good tastes. He took a deep breath, stabilizing this form on the shell best he could using Celine's power, which he took from her soul for himself. Yes, the Mayor's charming exterior with the abilities of the Seer. What then?
He took a deep breath. In the end, Damien and Celine's love for the Colonel outweighed the need for revenge. With decisive steps, he retreated to the Manor.
I can't believe this. The Mayor protested, but only half heartedly. In all honesty, he wished to see the Colonel just as much as Celine.
Just relax. We'll get your body back soon enough. The Seer replied. Then a pause. Who are we anyway?
"Dark." Dark said smoothly. "We're Dark, and we are not a devil or a demon, for even hell itself wouldn't spit out the twisted abomination we've become."
There was no response, which was good. With slight hesitance, Dark opened the doors to the Manor, ready to help his friend find his identity, just as he himself had done.
