About the reblog about straight people getting excited over characters that are gay without it being a "thing" I see just as many gay people get excited about the same thing because being gay isn't the character's entire identity.. are straight ally's not allowed to feel the same without it being turned against them, or are the gay people that get excited about it just wrong.. I guess is my question..?
ive never seen any queer ppl get excited about that shit other than the occasional cis gay white boy
obviously, being queer shouldn't be the character's entire identity, but it's still a part of them and that should still be acknowledged within the work
i super strongly disagree with any queer person who thinks that that counts as represent8ion, but they're entitled to think that because they're queer. srt8 people who get excited over it are just shits, because you know they wouldn't be getting half as excited if there was an actual queer character whose queerness is acknowledged and who is clearly depicted to be queer. you know they're only excited because "LOOK arent we SUCH GOOD PEOPLE for supporting this gay character!!! i mean, i know nothing about them is actually shown to be gay, and their identity is still swept under the rug like always, but LOOK HOW MUCH I SUPPORT TEH GAYS!!!"
