As I've restarted my book, my OCs have started to speak to each other in my head again. Since they're all still being revamped, they sound very basic and samesy but despite that... I still had a moment of "It's good to hear your voice again."
tell me more about hashtag your book that you need to finish
ostensibly it's about the monsterfucking mlm romance, but I am slow boiling readers into reading toxic age gap yuri instead with a woman who's even more of a monster.
the stories are inextricable, two sides of the same mystery - an ancient cursed ship in the Seattle harbor full of monsters (that run a shitty coffee shop), and the old bookstore with an extremely odd owner who is, for some reason, being hunted by female Irish assassins.
Daniel and Nina are the two ordinary humans who broke up after an intense 5 year relationship, former childhood sweethearts, bonded over their dead mothers, and they end up working for these two locations respectively. both get entangled with their bosses in extremely hot and unethical ways. they start unraveling the weirdness around their employers as things get dire politically - Nina's dad is the Seattle mayor who is beholden to the Star Does Coffee CEO, who wants both locations for himself - and legal implications surface suggesting that the bookshop owner is up to very illegal business.
it's explicit, full penetration etc etc no fading to black, i'm about 30k in and very happy with where it's going!
blueberry jam on the butter knife (2026) by me :)

Happy Pride! Read the first 5 chapters of a trans couples horror book called "Incinerate"!
TL;DR: Me and my partner wrote a horror book and you should check out the first five chapters!
Been working on this book with my partner for a while now and we are happy to say the first 5 chapters of the book are done! Me and my partner are so happy and truly have just wanted to put a little piece of ourselves out into the world in someway. Started off as a Silent Hill/House of Leaves fan-fiction experiment that turned into something else. A story of trauma, grief, and questioning of how much is one willing to take from an awful situation. We have been pouring ourselves into this book and loving every damn second of it and we would love it if you checked out the first 5 chapters!
Synopsis: When 31 year-old Violet Chambers receives a mysterious letter, she is forced to return to her childhood home and the trauma that made her leave in the first place. Influences: House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, Silent Hill, Uzumaki by Junji Ito, and David Lynch.
So here is the first 5 chapters of the book with an anonymous questionnaire form for after you read. Not needed but greatly would appreciate some feedback on what can be improved and what you liked! Please feel free to ask me anything about the book at any time!
Trigger Warnings below the cut
While I've been editing, I've begun adding optional activities to the chapters. I thought that these might be good to share! If there's interest, I can definitely share the rest.
Optional Activity: The Relationship I Want to Build
Take a few minutes to think about the kind of relationship you want to create.
Complete the following sentences:
I want a relationship where...
I want both people to feel free to...
I want connection to look like...
I want independence to look like...
I want disagreements to be handled by...
I want both people to feel safe enough to...
I want trust to look like...
When you're finished, read through your answers.
Many of us spend so much time trying to avoid abandonment, conflict, or rejection that we rarely stop and ask ourselves what we're actually moving toward.
Healthy relationships aren't built by eliminating all distance, disagreement, or independence. They're built by creating enough trust and security for two people to remain connected while still being individuals.
If you'd like, save your answers somewhere you can revisit them later. On difficult days, this can serve as a reminder of the kind of relationship you're trying to build, rather than the fears you're trying to avoid.
