Okay, so this is a long rediculous rant about something im very confused about. (Mainly romance. It Mentions homophobia and marriage hate(?).)
if you dont want to read it go ahead and skip over it. I’d rather you didnt feel forced to if you dont want to. if you want to help and have the energy id appriciate it.

how does love work?? Like romantic love? Becase I’m hearing “you choose who you love” but then “she falls in love with every boy.” And they imply its so common to be attracted at sight, but then they turn around and say “no you have to know them before anything happens.”
Like? I’ve never seen romance except in movies and every couple I know seems to just tollerate each other? They rarely do lovey dovey stuff unless its just the beging of a relationship and it only last up to 5 months to three years if they’re lucky.
And i get so scared when people say they’re getting married, even if they know their partner well.
I think its because in my experience when they get married they seem to hate each other more and only fight.
its terrifying to me.
Also romance sounds like it only lasts a short time and then you have to force yourself to stay?? I dont get it.
Also theres a mormon quote my mormon relative likes to throw around. “You choose who you love and love your choice.”
And since my entire family is homophobic they seem to think its impossible to be gay. Or they think you can be attracted to the same sex and just choose to not be with them.
When i say i don't want to get married, multiple ppl have told me 'but you know, you could get married with a friend fortax benefits or something of the sort' and while i do totally understand and respect the idea of taking advantage of the system like that, it just doesn'tsit rightwith me, in my head, marriage isthe pinnacle of amatonormativity and how it shapes the way we organize ourselves as a society and how capitalism takes advantage of it and all, and i refuse to conform with it, and i love being a hater of marriage, it feels great
I vow to love you and support you as long as the relationship is healthy and mutually beneficial. I vow to stand by you as long as the pros outweigh the cons.
ah yes, more "love interests and babies" posts for me to block
I still don't know why these things make me so uncomfortable, but they do....
I hate domestic au's
marriage, children, etc.... these kinda headcanons and storylines just make me super awkward and uncomfortable. I'll even go so far as to say they squick me
I know I have to have some strange deep-seated reason why, but.... I just don't know....
My only guesses are that I'm grey-aro and society placing so much importance on marriage makes me feel like a freak, and/or I hate children and they make me anxious and panicky
