Rewatching season 4 of Teen Wolf got me to think about the show's ships so I have to word vomit a bit.

Stiles and Malia looked at each other with love and admiration that I never saw between Stydia. Stalia's dynamic simply felt more natural in general.

I want Malia's happiness and root for Thiam, but the chemistry and angst of Maleo also temporarily won me over and got me thinking of all kinds of "What if...?/In another life"-scenarios.

I strongly prefer Scira over Scallison. Kira was done dirty in so many ways it's both enraging and ridiculous. All the Malira-potential both makes me squeal and breaks my heart. They would've been IT for each other, I think.

While being an eternal Sterek-shipper, I also adore Draeden and wish we would've seen more of them.

Marrish is the only endgame I can picture for both Lydia and Parrish, but I can also see the appeal of Scydia. It would've been nice to see them playing with the idea of starting to date, but eventually deciding that they are better as friends (basically the same scenario that I would've desperately wanted to experience with Stydia, but I see Scydia being a bit more compatible).

Still to this day, I can't figure out if Scalia was planned or if they just put them together because of the thought that the main character just has to be with someone at the end and they were basically each other's only options. I can kind of see the possible seeds of romantic Scalia from season 4 onward, but still their platonic bond was so great that I would've wanted it to stay like that.

Jordan Parrish x Lydia Martin

Lydia had never believed in soulmates until she met Jordan. She could feel him everywhere he went and he could feel her. She knew when he was happy, when he was sad, and he understood her and what she went through.

Headcanons under the cut

Lydia and Jordan don't do PDA and they don't really seem very couple-y to most people. They aren't touchy feely

Jordan is the cook, Lydia could burn water by getting distracted with a new theorem

Because of their unique Hellhound and Banshee connection, they can literally sense where in Beacon Hills the other is (they use this to ask each other to get food when they're near a grocery store or restaurant)

Jordan follows Lydia when she has her visions and keeps an eye on her, to make sure she doesn't get hurt. With the way they are both connected to Death, he likes Lydia's ability more because she could stop the Death before it happened

Lydia likes to sit on the couch with Jordan, just to be in each other's space. She likes to have dinner with him, to share their days with each other

Jordan loves to swim and, when it's warm, Lydia will drive with him to the beach and lay in the warm sand while he runs through the waves. That's the only place she'll tolerate him running up and hugging her tight

Lydia loves to be touchy feely at home but doesn't like to share that with others, it reminds her too much of high school where she felt like someone's arm candy

What's my next poll(s)? Well, a ship battle, of course.

Now that we've got our Ultimate Sterek Moment, it's time to move onto a new set of polls. A ship battle. An ultimate ship battle. So, a few things first:

I tried to come up with as MANY ships as I could. I managed to come up with 128. Yes, that many. This is the ship battle to end all ship battles, I guess! Some are a bit out there or more 'meh' but I wanted to try to include as many as I could. I even scoured the internet a bit to find some more out there ships people ship to add them to the list. There are also some poly/threesome ships included in this, as I wanted to be inclusive to those ships as well.

I tried to keep the most popular canon/fanon ships far apart from each other on the bracket to try to keep them away from competing against each other too early. That said, if it somehow ends with with two big ships against each other a bit too early...well, oh well. It is what it is. And also, for the rest of the ships I let the site I used just kinda put them in a random order.

WARNING: Obviously, NO SHIP HATE IN THESE POLLS. Keep it civil! You can disagree with the winners if you're bummed yours didn't get through to the next round/didn't win, of course, but don't go hating on the other ship or its shippers. Also no fighting amongst each other, either. That will not be tolerated and if I see that I will either delete the comment if I can/give a warning/block the user/or if it's too many people going too far I will shut this WHOLE thing down. This is meant to be fun and not serious. Remember that, please.

Also, it should go without saying, although there is no true evidence of this, but I remembered that in the last poll I did on twitter, a Thiam shipper or shippers ended up botting for it. Although this doesn't just go for Thiam, but anyone - although truly so far these polls have felt genuine and unbotted and I don't truly suspect anyone will going forward. BUT just incase: If there is ANY significant spike in the votes from now on, in a very short period of time - like say jumping 10% points or something in like an hour of time or something - I will assume botting has taken place. If someone is making more than 1 account on tumblr to vote, i.e. fake accounts, that is also cheating and THAT SHIP WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED. Again, I don't suspect ANYONE (this round) of doing it at the moment, not truly and don't think anyone will. BUT it's a good rule to put forth JUST INCASE.

There are some weird/out there/ships maybe some have never heard of in this, because I tried to think of as many as I could (and even then, I don't think I got every teen wolf ship out there) to be as inclusive as I could. Please refrain from making mean comments/laughing at/hating on a ship that's included that's not a more normal ship in the fandom, thank you. If you're bewildered by a ship, just keep comments to a very nice and polite "huh?" As I said above, I will shut this whole thing down if there is too much judgement/hate/etc...

ALL of these ships are meant in a ROMANTIC way, no other way. So vote which one you think is better in a ROMANTIC way, not a platonic way. Even if you don't ship it. If you don't like either and really don't want to vote for either or, then it's okay not to vote in that specific poll.

Because this is a ship battle, there will be two ships per poll. So you're about to see a LOT of poll posts from me...just a warning if you're wondering why there's going to be continued ship poll posts from me 😭

Derek follows when he motions him up to the counter, relieved, because he may be the alpha but Jordan’s his captain, and he’s more than willing to let him take the lead. “You’re going to get him some coffee, and when you give it to him, you’re going to ask if you can get his phone number and if he’d be interested in a date when the season’s over. Offer to take him to a Guardians game or something. We’ll let Allison and Kira plan out the rest of your life tonight, but take it shift by shift until then, Chief.”

“I take full responsibility for this,” Allison says, joining them at the counter and giving her drink order to the barista. “I should have taught him how to date back in college.”

“I would have ignored you,” Derek says, sliding his card back in his wallet after they’re all done ordering. He hadn’t dated much in college—he hasn’t dated much at all since either if he’s being truthful, and nothing that could even resemble a relationship. A few dates during the off-season, a hook-up occasionally if he needed it, but Derek’s always been fairly content to be single.

I'll be completely honest now. I've never understood and never will understand what's so appealing about a couple of Stydia and I've really tried very hard and I'll explain why.

I'm trying to be super objective and I do not write this to hurt anybody, I just share my personal opinions and feelings. But if you are more sensitive and that's ok and you love the couple, scroll down. If you will be toxic and agressive, then be aware that I have no intentions to deal with you, you either accept it or not, but if you can't express yourself as a decent human being, scroll down too. If you are open to someone's perspective, go ahead and read.

1. Trope "One has a crush on the other since childhood".

I've never been a big fan of these couples, of course there are cases where it makes sense, but these are couples where they're close friends, a classic nineties one, where two people have known each other since childhood, they're important in their lives. That rapprochement, even if friendly, just created that love. However, there was nothing to create with Lydia and Stiles, Lydia wasn't interested in his existence and Stiles rather gave the impression of a creep who is superficially obsessed with the girl, including how perfect, beautiful and smart she is in every way, but there's not a deeper connection to her essence. Of course, since she didn't notice him, he could only watch her and not really get to know her. Because Lydia is at the same time caring, cynical, she has a lot of flaws, but that's okay, that's what makes her Lydia, but I feel like he didn't see it at first and couldn't because, I repeat, he wasn't in her close circle, he didn't know her. It was just a fantasy.

2. Chemistry.

At best, it felt like sibling chemistry to me, and that's paradoxically what I loved about them. Lydia was so maternal and sisterly, and their whole chemistry, while cute, wasn't strong enough to sustain a relationship, it worked well on a friendly level. Plus, it would be a good indication of Stiles actually growing up and having a real relationship with a real girl that's mutual and fulfilling, rather than still being obsessed with his childhood crush.

Someone who likes them might take that as staying true to their "love" with all their heart, but from my perspective, it's a terrible step backwards. Being obsessed with your childhood crush when you're already in a real relationship - you do not do this and most importantly, it just doesn't make sense, and it's yet another reason why Malia was totally mistreated and as a Lydia fan, I'll protect this girl at all cost.

3. The writing.

A less extensive but essential detail is the writing of the relationship, where they always left the back door open, however, following the twitter of one of the writers, how much they wrote that Stiles loved Malia and how the kiss between Lydia and Stiles was just about friendly help, so that in the following season they would use it as a building block for their relationship...even though it doesn't make sense, because right after the kiss Lydia was able to throw herself at Aiden, then build a bond with Jordan, there was actually nothing to indicate that her perspective would change in any way. They decided to write that in later, when they decided to go ahead and finally make it happen. They used because it could have been used with different interpretation, but when you already know how they wrote it, you do not believe it unless you are really really into that you do not care.

I probably don't even need to talk about the issue of kissing someone during a panic attack.

4. Overrated

This couple is kinda glorified, but they did not always treat each other nicely. It's not like it's a problem for me, but I see opinions like Stiles was always nice and they did no wrong. Yes, they did..

5. Malia

Well, that's also a thing, because I could see Stiles work in real relationship and see positive changes on both sides, mutual love, a real on-screen relationship, it was nice to see. But someone decided to throw it under the bus, make one of the pointless breakups ever and return to childhood crush. It was out of blue. We could see more scenes where Lydia and Stiles hang out and are actually getting closer, like see it in their performance, but the only thing close to it was the end of season when the gang saved Lydia from Eichen house, but their other scenes were pretty regular. Season six started with Stiles obsession renewed, but Lydia was still the same until he disappeared and the she suddenly loved him and had more connection with him than everyone else? Like more than Malia, Stiles was her anchor, more than his best friend and brother figure Scott, more than his own FATHER? That was so lame writing, honestly they did not even try. They just threw what might look likable. Sorry, but I saw Wattpad stories looking better than this. They could connect some things, so they did it. If I were their fan, I guess I would be happy they are together no matter how they did it. But as someone, who never had much taste for that ship, I see it as very rushed and lame, quite lazy to find something. It would make sense for Lydia to be "the moment when it all changed" how Stiles saved her. But of course, there is no kiss, it's a team work including Jordan, but yeah, here it would make sense, we also could see after how she's grateful to him and he earned her respect, but nah, let's put that toxic panic attack kiss, who had no influence on how story kept going and was not even mentioned later...

Summary.

So, I guess I could write endless rants about this couple.

I think it had excellent potential to be a strong friendship. I enjoyed watching it.

It's a teen drama, so there's always room for romance between everyone. However, it's just and I'm being brutally honest now- fanservice. Just throw a bone and eat. Why else would it rely on the biggest clichés, everything was so rushed on Lydia's part, when it had the opportunity to build on that friendship and mutual respect? No, suddenly it's all back again, I had a crush on you and I couldn't get over it. And Lydia suddenly fell in love because the script said so. The potential was there, but poorly executed.
