Sunset this evening, yellow iris, a delightful Swift, marsh thistle, view and another pretty Painted Lady to see of late they are present in numbers so far this year at Lakeside Country Park today 26/05/2026 and Canada Goose and gosling at Hatchet Moor in the New Forest yesterday.
It was also powerful to watch Swallows and House Martins flying around with the Swifts this evening with the Great Spotted Woodpeckers including exciting glimpses of a chick poking its head out of the nest hole, Beautiful Demoiselle, oxeye daisies and pineappleweed other highlights at Lakeside today. Yesterday and Sunday completed one of my most memorable ever bank holiday weekends well with only my second ever Downy Emerald dragonflies and Wood Warbler at Hatchet Moor and Acres Down in the New Forest respectively yesterday and young Grey Wagtail and a female Mandarin Duck and ducklings on a walk from Millyford Bridge in the New Forest on Sunday adding to a super spring I'm having for seeing baby birds.
