I also thumbed out the pose prior, but this took a lot of refinement and references. Having a whole lot of fun with this style and have another one in the works.

A good look into my process for these pieces. I think about where the shadows and highlights are and block those in first, then put in a base color. Or I work with the base color and work in an extra value.

It’s been a good exercise in making me think about negative and positive shapes.

it makes me absolutely mad that we are getting to see, with real people, luffy and zoro’s bond: their understanding of each other, that silent communication, the devotion they have for the other and THE RESPECT for each other dreams. It’s going to be too much for my zolu heart but i am here for it

this zolu moment is my favorite.

why? well, i think is very interesting how Oda makes luffy and zoro witness the horrible things that are happening in wano and how it affects its people. First with luffy and otama and seeing how people is basically dying from hunger which of courseee makes luffy mad. Then there’s zoro who meets the man with blue hair (whose name i forgot, sorry) and seeing how people are also dying because of dehydration/hunger.

After all of this, once the raid is about to start we have this beautiful moment where they both get so mad at seeing how kaido’s subordinates are wasting food and how they are drinking without a care in the world when there’s people out there dying. They get so mad that they start to fight and it makes me think about how Oda highlights how special their relationship is. While others might don’t understand or don’t know why they start to cause a mess, they just react because of how unfair it is and is just something they know.

Sorry if this doesn’t makes any sense but yeah, it makes me go feral every time i think about it.

something i just thought about is that luffy is probably the only person to have touched zoro and still be alive. i’m pretty sure that if someone else did that, zoro might have cut that person hand or something but not luffy because as we know he is very touchy and zoro doesn’t protest 👀
