Yea, I tend to prefer Mike and Chuck as bros but I totally get why people ship them so much and enjoy reading the occasional fanfic about this pairing. As for poly burners: absolutely, I like it a lot and they’re already basically a queer platonic pod, romance fits pretty well with their dynamics
Do you have a full detailed pic of Chuck’s in his spider🕷form, please and thank you.<3
I do not have a full reference sheet for him— the only full-body I have ever made of him was the image attached to the first chapter of the fic, but I have a few concept sketches with various angles of his tech! :) Not to mention, you'll learn a little more about his tech in chapter 2, and then in later chapters when the door is closed.
This one is helpful if you want an obscure side view lol. This was the second (very rough) sketch I ever did of him (the eyes have changed since then), plus it was the first I ever did of Mike's cozy spelunking jacket!
While I'm going to keep this project mostly under-wraps FOR NOW— I'm very excited to be working on it though, and today's sick day has given me time to write— I can give you a very sloppy description (free of spoilers, title is a WIP)!
Currently a team of four (Mike, Julie, Dutch, and Tex), the Burners want try to find a way to tap into Kane Co. tower's private comms, pick out any incoming attacks, and keep another Vega or Genesis Pod from happening. The journey leads them to a special tunnel subsystem of the Under Depths, accessible through an old facility that helped work on the electronics inside the Depths and the dome itself. Though unspoken, Mike feels a void in his team, like their job would be even easier with one more Burner... Who might that be? He has no idea (but we sure do!!). Much to his delight, he finds that Burner-worthy prospect inhabitting the Under Depths: a really awesome guy who has the same goal as the Burners, but with a little more flare, circuitry, and eyes!
Tags will include: cyborg Chuck, body modification, mentions of unconsented surgeries, dehumanization, injuries and recovery... Yes, it's a bumpy story, and it's all a ONESHOT (which is one of the reasons why I have kept my lips sealed tight), BUT there will also be very wholesome eating pizza and playing videogames and 'three hundred mph can't be that badOH YES IT CAN' scenes, and a very sweet good ending in which Mike Chilton Is A Good Person (As Per Usual)!
While there aren't going to be any ship tags, it's Muckles-focused. (And, tbh, you can read most of my platonic fics as whatever-the-hell ship you want lol. So, you want this to be a Muckles fic or see any other underlying romantic threads?? Go ahead, my dudes, dudettes, and doodles, imagine the scene with those cute little romantic vibes!)
When will you be able to update “Lost Boy/Chapter 3” please.<3
Life and writer's block has kicked me in the tail for Lost Boy atm!
I've been working on a really big (REALLY BIG, very important, //very excited brain noises//) oneshot to try to get my flow back, but I need to hammer down the scene in Lost Boy that's eating my fingers. I'll be back to it once I overcome that hurdle!! <3
... But, I do have a bit of drabble from "Chapter 3: Anatomy of a Shapeshifter" under the cut... as a treat, lol
“Oh,” says Chuck, breathless, and twists his head around to blink hard at the grass. His muscles feeling like they’re knotting as he tenses in on himself, huddling down further like he's one, anxious knot. Of course Mike has other friends, he’s a dragon, and Chuck just happened to be nearby and be easy to be friends with.
Swallowing down the lump in his throat, Chuck turns back to Mike and asks, “Uh, what are your other friends like…?”
It’s like the sun came out from behind the clouds, the way Mike’s face lights up. He whips around with some enthused dragon noise in his throat, grinning. Chuck freezes, eyes widening as he realizes what he just did. “Oh! I thought you’d never ask!” Mike chirps loudly, shifting to sit toward Chuck, his draconic pupils round and infinitely happy. “I bet you would like them, they’re such great people! You should meet them sometime, oh my gosh—” Chuck stares at Mike, speechless, as Mike continues in maybe two breaths: “There’s Dutch, and he’s freaking awesome at art and makes the best paintings in the fae woods, and then there’s Texas and he’s super fun to play around and wrestle with, and his dad plays harp— which is super cool— and Julie is sharp as a knife and kind of outsmarts all of us all the time, and she always knows when we’re hiding stuff, so it’s really hard to surprise her!”
The blaring enthusiasm might as well have shoved Chuck's self-pity away and doused it in dragon fire, and Chuck vaguely wonders if Mike's smile could stop armies. He reels, stumbling to collection all of this very positive information because, wow, Mike really just threw that all out there. "Holy shit, okay—”
Mike laughs, practically vibrating, "Yeah, right? You’d really like them, they’re all super nice and pretty, and they’re just great. You’re really pretty and great, too, so it’d be great!"
Personally, I love polyBurners! Other than Muckles (and whichever associated monogomous relationships included), polyBurners is my go-to! hhcyp?, The Rose Petal Collection, and a few other undisclosed fics are all poly-centric! :) I'm most certainly to be considered a multi-shipper!
(In general, I appreciate the multitude of ships in Motorcity and most other fandoms, but the fandom discourse about ships/shipping frankly confuses me and I steer way clear of as much as I can. I understand the tension in certain situations since some things are just Not Okay— aka the promotion of REAL LIFE illegal/harmful acts from within a ship, to the point where it's... not really a story anymore... :/ But two harmless ships bashing each other for existing is baffling to me)
Currently, I haven't really thought up any new story ideas for Danny Phantom. I got a bit sucked into LawRusso (from Karate Kid/Cobra Kai). Though I might put a pause on any more fanfics after I finish up my current one, until I get some kind of motivation again.
