Following His Hooves
She followed him, though it was difficult. He was large, powerful, fast. It was damn near impossible to keep up, but she did. Hooves stepped over his, much larger, more... Intimidating than she could recall. She was so busy looking at his hoove prints, she didn't notice the chimera approaching her. She didn't have to react though, as the very black furred beast galloped out, kicking and going mad as to scare the beast away. It worked, and left a very flustered faun behind. She blushed furiously, messing with her fingers as she took a step back. Compared to his beautiful coat and dreadlocks to match, her wool was a dull gray, not even light enough to look silver or clean for that matter. Her curly, droopy brown hair was short, tied in low pigtails. Before she could explain herself, the centaur glared at her. "You insist on following me, yet you do not watch your surroundings. What is it you need from me?" She couldn't explain herself, brown eyes avoiding his golden ones. He was such a rare type of centaur; his brown skin complimenting the rest of his horse-like body. Meanwhile she had freckles all over her, even on her fluffy ears. "I... Wanted to thank you for saving me." "Just now?" He questioned, tilting his head and looking at her as if she were stalling for time. She shook her head and said, "No, I mean a few days ago! When you entered the village, we had a human problem, but you handled it diplomatically." He raised an eyebrow. "What does that have to do with you specifically?" The faun lowered her head, her fluffy tail wiggling in nervousness. "The humans kept picking on me. They wanted to do things to me, kept threatening me. If you hadn't shown up, I'm sure they would've gone through with it." The centaur's expression turns gentle. Okay, well that was a reason to follow, but even so. "Was it worth it following me this far? What of your family?" She shook her head. "I have none. And yes, because I have a preposition for you." She reached behind her, pulling out a bow and several arrows. "I am not defenseless. I would like to travel with you. Please, there is nothing left for me and I would love it if you trained me on how to defend myself." He sighed, crossing his arms and watching her carefully. She seemed... Less timid now. She probably wasn't lying about knowing how to defend herself, but even so. "Where I go, no one should follow. It's dangerous for small creatures like you." She frowned. "At least let me try to follow. I've come this far." He wanted to groan; this felt like one hell of a bad idea. Still, the idea of company seemed... Nice. A bad idea maybe, but all the same. ".... Fine. But slow me down once and I will drag you back to your village myself." Her brightened up considerably, bouncy as she said, "Thank you, you won't regret this!" Maybe she was more excited than she should've been, but the faun felt this a wise choice. He just kept drawing her to him without trying and she would've gone mad back at the village. The thought of him being that other half popped up, but she pushed it down. All she wanted was adventure at the moment.
