I checked “watch Garrix Show” on my bucket list, and it directly goes to the same bucket list under note “must see again” or “repeat-worthy experience”
So far I saw live performance of Michael Bublé, David Foster, Sting and Chris Botti, The 1975, Coldplay and OneRepublic. I’m grateful I got to see them all, but if opportunity arises, I have to rethink , “do I want to spend money to watch them again?”
But Martin Garrix? Boy of boy, all those energy, it’s addicting!! I went to Grand Opening Weekend of Omnia Bali. I expected to see a 7 or 8 rated show of Martin Garrix, and I got a solid 12! I prepared myself for 1 hour show and Martin gave me 2 hours full of heart thumping beats, loud bangers. He just kept hitting, invading my ears! It was bonkers!!
When the ID began, I feel like I’m gonna weep, “I’m finally here! I got to see, listen, and soak in Garrix show for real!” Then instantly I got sucked into the beat of Byte and got push further as the tunes rolling.
I wrote a note and the set list (as best as I could) during the show. But 1 hour in, I got too carried away with jumping and dancing and singing, I accidentally deleted my note 😣 So here’s the performed song list in the first hour as I remembered (not in sequence).
Opening ID
Byte. Byte is a perfect choice to open after ID. It’s like saying, “I don’t want to warm you up, I just hit it straight to the heart.”
So Far Away + remix. #tearjerker
There for You. I got a confession, when the song was released, it’s not my favorite song of MG (I say 'not favorite', but I meant I still know the words by heart but didn’t listen to it obsessively). Then when I prepared to go to this show, it resurfaced and I was hyped when Martin played it. Sing along like nobody’s business. There’s one girl looked at me happily, like “This is awesome! I’m great you’re here! Let’s sing along together!” Then together we sang, definitely out of tune, happily yelling the words.
Scared to Be Lonely + Brooks remix. Standard festival do. I got another confession. The only remix that I know by heart is STBL by Brooks. I still have no idea whose remix that Martin brought to stage for So Far Away and There for You (if you know, please tell me!) I like to see a Brooks show. In that evening alone, I listened Dusk till Dawn Brooks remix, Byte, STBL Brooks remix and Boomerang. I felt like I need closure to him 😘
Together. Standard do. I like the simplicity of it. It’s fundamentally a great song, so you don’t have to take it over the top to enjoy it.
WIEE — mashed up with Runaway (U & I) of Galantis (or was it Runaway mashed up with WIEE?). Standard do. I love it when I first listen to it (I think it was Ultra somewhere last year), still loving it until now.
Forever. This was unbelievably epic. Forever is a really good song, but I doubted it would fit on festival. Man, it’s a nice pleasure to be proven wrong. It mind blowing-ly fit. I think it’s also due to the sequence and bridges from previous and upcoming song, so it explodes well. Don’t ask me what the songs are! I lost my note x_x
Lions in the Wild. It is seriously wild. It’s one of the old song that can unite longtime fans and gather the new ones
The Only Way is Up
Break through the silence
Forbidden voices
Gold Skies
Tremor
Spotless
Animals
Game Over. Martin is not perfect, but he’s not ashamed to admit when he made mistake. He pushed wrong button in the mid of Game Over. It went off, and professionally smooth things over to similar tune. Then he said “sorry I fucked up”. He’s so humble, I just want to give him a friendly bear hug.
Like I Do

Harder Better Faster Stronger — Daft Punk
Virus. This is where the best fan experience happened to me. I came to the show by myself. I stood in between a boy and a girl from two different groups. The girl was “actively sharing on her social media”. The boy was being goofy with his group of friends. When Virus came up, three of us started yelling “When every hour could be the last, why would we wait, why would we wait” and then we looked at each other excitedly, then suddenly we’re in group hug, singing and jumping. I never experience that in other music show I went to. It felt awesome. Considering Virus is an older song, so the ones who knows it well must be a good fan of MG. That what’s make it more amazing.
Sun is never going down. Our lyrically brilliant group stayed through the next song, “cause I’m rising higher than I’ve been before. I’m ready, ready, crying out for more!”
Don’t Look Down
Boomerang
Can’t Feel My Face — The Weeknd
How Deep is Your Love — Calvin Harris and Disciples
Snakecharmer — Blinders
Make Up Your Mind. This song is my least favorite from Seven. But the way Martin put it after Snakecharmer was really cool. I’m surprised that I could enjoyed it.
Pizza. At first, I thought something was not going well. It didn’t sound flawless, felt a bit flat. But then Martin mashed it with You’ve Got the Love by Florence+TM. It was a splendid!
Feels So Close —Calvin Harris; Remix ID Garrix-Mylo. Standard do. PS: I can’t get the guitar intro out of my head!
In the name of love + Dallas K remix. Standard do. Ibrclude the fireworks, which is cool.
Symphony — Clean Bandit, Zara Larsson
Waiting For Love — Avicii. Martin put this directly after So Far Away. He was so mean. Too much emotion in the span of 5 mins. I can feel my heart torn into pieces.
Never Be Like You — Flume
Firestone — Kygo
One More Time — Daft Punk
No “Hold On & Believe” and no AREA21 materials! Which is quite shocking, not in a good way. But it’s not a big offence. There are definitely songs (original or remix) that I missed to put here because I forgot, didn’t know or can’t place the title. There are also lots of new tunes, new beats, and new drops, that I know they might never be officially released as songs (when I say new, I mean I never heard it before in the video of any festivals/shows before. It might not be new, but I just got aware of it). It’s crazily good! Were I listen to it on my laptop, I'd be shocked, mouth open in a sense of “I can’t believe, this is awesome!”, and keep replaying them. He is really prolific. He worked hard.
Now into the serious question. I stood quite near to the stage, so I don’t know whether it is interference since I was near the source or it is actually different, but I heard different voices of Dua Lipa, Troye Sivan, Romy Dya, Bebe Rexha. “Like I Do”, “Waiting for Love” and Jamie Scott voice were sounded the same (or at least similar) to the original song. Maybe they’re the same voices but he modulated them? If it’s true, I’d like to ask the reason. Is it because label issue? Or is it just for fun?
All in all, I immensely enjoy my first #GarrixShow. Here’s hoping for more to show to come!
