No BeachGlow?
BeachGlow is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. They create and produce cutting-edge music festivals and other events that showcase and support charities that benefit today’s youth. BeachGlow’s goal is to educate, motivate, and inspire a generation to become a force for significant social change. This year Beach Glow planned to set the event in Wildwood, Nj on July 8 & 9. Wildwood is a well known family vacation location and home to Morey’s Peir.
The Morey Organization, which owns and operates piers, hotels and waterparks in the area, filed lawsuits in New Jersey Superior Court against BeachGlow Event. Morey’s has been fighting BeachGlow for 2 years, alleging that EDM concerts are inappropriate for the area because they feature performers using profanity and cause disorderly acts, and usual drugs and alcohol. One reason for the Morey Organization to be fighting BeachGlow is because of competition. The Morey Organization has their own EDM event.
“The city of Wildwood made a commitment to our company in 2015 that EDM concerts would not be permitted in July and August (prime family vacation months) or to return at all in 2016 or 2017,” Morey’s spokeswoman Maggie Warner said. “We told the people at BeachGlow … that we would go to court to stop another EDM concert if the city approved it … We expect public officials to honor their commitments and, with respect to issues that are important to our community, will go to court to require that they do so.”
So what do you think? is The Morey Organization over doing things? I for one believe that they need to calm down, its only two days in the summer season and BeachGlow has taken many measures to address the concerns of The Moreys Organization.
