Thinking back on Nightcrawler's retconned origin and as much as I like it I find it weird when Irene says to Kurt "I have no maternal feelings towards you whatsoever" because she can't remember the pregnancy and needs to get her memories back for her feelings to change. I have to think of it as an unintentional side effect of how Xavier warped her mind because I saw that blue elf for the first time when I was six and knew I just wanted to protect him.
