Alright, tell us about Nyctus and Garrus and Oriol and Adrien and whatever is the dynamic going on there, inquiring minds are desperately curious
okay, for this to make sense, we gotta backtrack a bit. AND BUCKLE THE FUCKLE UP, THIS GETS LONG.
First, the timelines. In my Fic, the timelines are Canon-Divergent, so there is more time between certain pre-game events than what the game says.
Oriol and Adrien met in basic training, and were in the same unit afterwards for quite a long time. Oriol constantly has to prove himself to the other Turians, after Saren and his brother, Desolas, made some unsavoury names for themselves, and the Arterius family backed them. Adrien would often describe Oriol as "the only Good Arterius". Oriol is Saren's half-brother, on their father's side. Essentially, a bastard son who was only accepted into the Arterius family once he became known for his exemplary skill for military infiltration, and only once his mother has passed away. (His mother was NOT an Arterius, she was a one-night-stand and Saren's father was very much married, and not to her.)
Both Adrien and Oriol became best friends, and they were both drafted to Front Line conflict during the First Contact War. They were roughly 20 at the time. During the conflict, Adrien met his vita - an old turian form of endearment used to describe the most precious one to you (often a spouse). I'll stop there, because any further and I risk divulging the whole story and plot of my WIP Fic OuO
Alright. Now we are on to Garrus and Nyctus.
These two met very similarly to Adrien and Oriol, and they got along so well that it eventually turned into a "friends with benefits" situation (Garrus is very Bi in my Fic). Nyctus grew up in a very racist and harsh household, with a father who openly supported Saren's brutal example as a Specter, and a mother who looked the other way when the "discipline" turned physical. Senus, Nyctus's father, also served in the FC War along side Oriol, Adrien and Castis (Garrus's father). Senus and Castis had always butted heads, for obvious reasons, but it never escalated.
One night, after the war is over and Castis is a cop, Castis ends up arresting Nyctus AND Garrus after they are caught doing shenanigans (not elaborating because PLOT!). Garrus wasn't charged, but Nyctus WAS, and Senus claimed it was because of prejudice towards family and favouritism because Garrus was Castis's son. Nyc's arrest vaporised any hope of getting into his preferred military field (Covert-Ops) and Senus has had a grudge against Castis ever since. Senus serves in a position of power on the Citadel and once Garrus becomes a cop, Senus makes his life miserable in retaliation. Garrus and Nyc still speak on good terms once Garrus joins Shepard, Nyc more so just to spite his father.
