Hit dice: How long does it normally take your muse to recover from an injury? What is their pain tolerance like?
Merlin’s not too bad with pain, he’s learnt to deal with it from having military experience, though he rarely sustained injuries due to the common roles he played in his squadron. However, the man has had injuries, he’s seen war, he’s been buried in it all. But, he follows the motto by his once superior ‘ one foot after the fuckin’ other ’ and it helps him get through things. merlin’s rate of recovery is quite normal, perhaps only accelerated through kingsman’s medical technology and anything developed by the previous merlins to maintain the appearance of the immortal and magical man, but ... merlin is human, and merlin is getting a bit on in his years. so, yeah.
Proficiencies: Is there any one skill your muse is exceptionally good at? Do they apply this skill very often, or have they not even discovered it yet?
Merlin has had military level training that has allowed him to specialise his engineering in combat / weaponry and espionage. It’s a major reason why he was employed as ‘Q’ in MI6, and why he is in charge of the technology used by Kingsman. Though he is more a man of classics, he does allow himself to utilise skills in the weird spy toy ways that the agency wishes for (e.g. the creation of Harry’s umbrella is one of the first designs I have him make as a headcanon of mine ). This allows him to also begin to try to reverse engineer and understand enemy warfare and their technology.
Breaching and maintaining security is another strength that Merlin has, and it has only improved since being at Kingsman, this is only because of the evolving technology the Merlins have created. This, and with what I’ve written before has helped with his ability to partake in electronic warfare and intelligence gathering.
Few do know of how very adept Merlin is with rifle combat. Merlin is bloody good at it, and has often been seen as a man who was better at a distance - whilst he isn’t a hawkeye level shot, or a sebastian moran, he is a good shot, and knows his way around guns.
In terms of things that are a little softer, Merlin is also a good cook, though few know of his foray into things a little more exotic - he likes to learn, and they are more personal and intimate meals as opposed to anything he would make for kingsman agents and candidates should he provide them with a meal.
Perhaps the rarest skill Merlin has that only few know of is his ability to play the cello. It is something that allows him to shift his focus, to have concentration on something else and to just have fun. He’ll often play for Ailsa, his dog, though this is very personal and very rare. The cello commonly is in his flat, and only rarely does he play at Kingsman HQ.
Languages: What languages can your muse speak? Can they speak them fluently, or are they rusty at some languages? ( here )
Merlin can speak English, and can survive with his Italian and French. Whilst he’s Scottish, he cannot speak Gaelic fluently (he’s educated, he knows things but exposure and his life doesn’t really have it as a language iirc / language he’d commonly use ), but knows bits and pieces. He understands a little bit of Krio from his time in Sierra Leone, Serbian and Arabic.
