LESLIE GROSSMAN AS MARY CHERRY POPULAR S02E05 "JOE LOVES MARY CHERRY"
Re-watching this scene reminded me of how much I miss this show and its absurdities.
I know I've told you to do this before, but if you haven't, you should watch it. It was a superior show in terms of cleverness and pop culture references and dealt with LGBTQUIA (particularly 🏳️⚧️) issues long before anyone else wanted to. It's an important part of our 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ television history, and it shouldn't get lost or ignored as it often does when talking about Ryan Murphy's body of work.
There's another person who uploaded the eps in HQ recently but they're all out of order and mislabeled (which I'll have to mention...so he can fix). These are in order/ just have Spanish subs, they're in English.
I wrote fan fic for them too, but in the form of loose screenplays. I was the first to do so, since scripts were the easiest and Popular is very, very dialogue driven (you had to have a quick wit to write for Mary Cherry and Nicole Julian). Something was happening in my life back then too (September 11th happened and I had to film a movie), and I didn't get to finish their Spring Break (it was all Fix It & Widh Fulfillment fic for the poor steering of S2), but I got as far as writing the school shooting into it.
Yeah, it was the year 2001 and I wrote that some kid shot up the dance at Kennedy High. The fallout 🥸 from that was a couple of character deaths and permanent trauma to Mary Cherry and Nicole, and I dealt with it the way I felt that Murphy might have had he tried (keeping in the tone of the show was hard, and I think that's why people crapped all over Season 2...it dealt with some heavy issues and people weren't happy with that since it was such light-hearted camp).
Anyway before this gets stuck in Drafts....

That would be one of the cutest and nostalgic WB promos, but it’s almost impossible not to remember this as a presage to what whas about to come. Popular at Fridays and its inevitable cancelation.
One of the best scenes ever aired on TV till this very day, when the girls got stuck inside The Novak.
