Costumes for the 1998 film 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉 were designed by Alexandra Byrne. This particular costume, worn by Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth I, did not make the film’s final cut. It can be seen in a black-and-white behind-the-scenes photo. Interestingly, Byrne seems to have gone on to use the fabric for the sleeves of a different costume in the film, which you can see at Bit.ly/TudEliz005 The gown was used again in the first season of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒖𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔 in 2007 by Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn. As is common with reused costumes, the bodice was adjusted with added fabric to ensure a proper fit for a different performer.
