Saw these the night we left Tromsø~ Actually the truth about the Northern Lights is, many people expect to see a vivid colorful display of dancing lights in the sky (like in these pics I took 😅). I too had that sort of expectation, but something a lot of people don't tell you & most pictures trick you into believing, is the lights do not appear this vivid to the naked eye. At night the cells in our eyes that detect light do not detect colors very well. Most of the time the lights appear like a gray white cloud that can often be mistaken as just a passing cloud. Its only when the activity is really strong (which doesnt happen most of the time), then will our eyes see some colors in the lights~ sensors on cameras are more sensitive to the colors of the lights & as the pictures are exposed longer, it shows a much brighter colorful display. honestly speaking even tho my pictures seem spectacular, so far I have yet to really see lights with my own eyes that have really wow-ed me~ #northernlights #auroraborealis #norway #visitnorway #tromso #tromsø #visittromso #marysvacay #marygoesscandi #hurtigruten #mstrollfjord (at Tromsø, Norway)

We crossed into the arctic circle at 07:18:27am this morning! And to celebrate this, we had a ceremony out on deck with the ship captain & King Neptune 😂 where we had an "arctic circle baptism", which according to Matine, our cruise tour director everyone has to go through to make King Neptune happy so he will give us good weather while we are in the arctic 😄 The "baptism" which is conducted by the ship captain & King Neptune involves them pouring a ladle of ice+water down your back, which I tell you in this icy weather sends a jolt to your body & makes u jump & squeal like I did involuntarily ❄️😅 Everyone is then given a shot of sherry to finish off the ceremony~ Hopefully fingers crossed we will really get clear skies & great weather esp for more Northern Lights the next few days! 😊 #arctic #arcticcircle #arcticcirclebaptism #arcticcircleceremony #hurtigruten #mstrollfjord #marysvacay #marygoesscandi #norway #visitnorway
