Guys, I’ve been matched to a lot of stupid people on dating apps but this guy won ! 😩

Apparently my bone structure is so “masculine” he had to ask me if I was trans, which btw is not offensive to me. Then when I asked if he was in sarcasm, this was his response. This has to be the morst ignorant response. And the fact that he unmatched me after just proved he has fragile male masculinity.

This post is inspired by an article that I read in which a great number of young Chinese men confess that they experience great pressure trying to meet the social expectations of the characteristics of men : strength, assertiveness, leadership... In reality, every single person that I know has multidimensional characteristics. A man can have vulnerable moments as a women can be assertive in her choice. One can feel confident in the morning and suddenly have a breakdown at night. Why reduce them all to a few abstract words? The Mask You Live In

For  7 years, I went to a church where it was commonly discouraged to have any "effeminate slackness" (as if women were either lazy or avoided conflict). At the same church, I was told by the pastor, "Brady, when you talk about your feelings, you sound weak and not like a leader" during the time my spouse was leaving me and my best friend had just died. When I came out as gay, I was constantly asked by a family member if I had been molested because in that person's mind at the time, that's the way you become gay or less manly.

This documentary, The Mask You Live In - 2015 was recommended to me, and I cannot recommend it enough to whoever will watch it, especially to anyone that has influence over boys. Watch it on Netflix please. 

PS: The same makers made another documentary called Miss Representation. Both are groundbreaking and available to stream on Netflix.
