Timeline Rant:
So, I've been trying to decide where each world/hood is set in. If Pleasantview is 2004, then Neighborhood 1 would be 1979, since it is canonically 25 years prior, and that would also make Sunset Valley set in 1954. This is important for me because if I know when a world is supposed to take place, I can decide which generations the premades are in, and connect the worlds and families appropriately, so that when the save file is downloadable, for example, Holly Alto was a teenager when Mortimer Goth was a child in Sunset Valley, so she's either an elder or deceased during the time of the save, but her and her parents existed and have graves/family trees.
I quickly decided that Pleasantview should ACTUALLY be set in the 1990s, accounting for Cassandra being a child in 1979, appearing to hold Alexander as a teenager, and it's been 25 years since Sims 1. Alexander should be a teenager by 2004 (year the game came out, so "modern day")
(and it makes Michael Bachelor / Dina Caliente different because she's too young canonically)
I am quickly realizing it is an entire can of worms... but as I do, I can also almost see an potentially fixed timeline. The problem is, as I go, I'm afraid a lot of simmers may not follow, because of the sheer amount of technical inconsistencies with their canons. I'll show you:
Consort Capp is a young adult in Roaring Heights, but Roaring Heights is canonically inspired by the Roaring 20s. Young Adults are typically 18-24 years old, but his daughters Goneril Capp and Regan Capp are already born. Goneril is a child, so she has to be at least 4 or 5 years old. If we pick a date, and say it's 1928, that means that Goneril would've been born in Roaring Heights in 1923, and Regan in 1926. Since she has a teenager and toddler in Veronaville, if we assume she was 19-20 (since they are already married), when Miranda was born, she'd be around 34 or 35 in 1957 or 58, which is obviously very close to 1954, making Veronaville take place at the same time as Sunset Valley NOT Pleasantview. HOWEVER, Goopy GilsCarbo is a toddler in Monte Vista, and so is Antonio Monty, but Goopy GilsCarbo is an adult in Pleasantview. If Pleasantview is set in 1994 instead of 2004, Goopy could be 42 years old during Pleasantview, and 2 years old during Monte Vista. However, Antonio Monty is Patrizio's son, and both parents are adults in Monte Vista, so Patrizio needs to be at least 26 years old during Monte Vista. If Patrizio is 26 years old in 1954, he would only be born in 1928, and therefore be Goneril's peer NOT Consort's.
Who wants me to rant about the Alto's issue, or am I screaming into the void? 😅
It's going! 🫶

FINALLY.
I have ✨️finally✨️ finished writing out every single last name from every single premade sim from the Sims 1, 2, Stories, 3, and 4 into my notes journal. I divided all of the world's 🔸️into nine sections. This is because I am merging and condensing all worlds, families, and lore of all games into one Sims 2 neighborhood, so obviously there is going to be overlap, errors, and inconsistencies. I know, for example, that Neighborhood 1 is Pleasantview is Sunset Valley is Willow Creek, so I have planned to follow the same logic. I will now be highlighting (in purple 💜) every single family/last name that appears more than once in this universe and will be considering it a canonical and extended family. Ei: the Landgraab's are obviously all somehow related
I will then see the difference in ethnicities and genetics, and fill in blanks accordingly. (If two sims are cousins but one has red hair and one has black hair, their grandfather has red hair but no wife was mentioned, I may create one with black hair to explain where it came from. Alternatively, it could be explained by the cousin's other family's side. Etc etc etc)
Families who have importance and impact on the lore and history of the universe will be included. Families with repeated references will be included. Premade households that appear once in a DLC may not be. I will follow up with a list of all premade families that I plan to include, and if I've missed your favorite, you can please just PM me!
The nine different hoods are currently as follows:
The Main Hood - aka Pleasantview
Three Unique Uni Hoods - State, Prep, Sci-fi
(Sims State, Académic Le Tour, La Fiesta Tech)
Three Downtown Hoods- Downtown, ST, VV
(All cities that are based on generic Downtown)
(Any cities that are based on the areas around Strangetown, such as Lucky Palms)
(Any cities that could be based around a busier city near the town of Veronaville / on the other coast as Pleasantview, such as Brindleton Bay and Roaring Heights)
Three Shopping Districts - ST, VV, Magic
(Strangetown itself and merging worlds, such as Strangerville.)
(Veronaville itself and merging worlds, such as Henford-on-Bagley)
(Magic Districts, such as Magic Town and Innisgreen)
Two Japanese-Based Resorts - TV, MK
(Takemizu Village and Mount Komorebi)
One French-based Resort - Woods / Chateau
One Arabic-based Resort - Al Simhara
(This is Egyptian but some other references aren't as directly Egyptian in the universe)
AT LEAST A FEW DIFFERENT ISLANDS
Twikki Island is directly based on Hawaii
Felicity and Wanmani Islands are not directly credited as being based on specific cultures and since they have a military reference and share items with bon voyage, I decided to consider all three islands as near each other
Isla Paradiso and Suntide Tides could be based on different island regions, but share many family names and ties, so I decided to consider both as "carribean" in inspiration and proximity.
Sulani is based on Polynesian cultures
Selvadora is based on mesoamerican culture
Best update so far:
I have written down the names of every single premade town/area/world/island that comes canon to the Sims franchise, and I have merged them into categorized sections for a few subhoods in the same save file. (Ei: Neighborhood 1 is Pleasantview is Sunset Valley is Willow Creek)
I have found and written down the last name of every single premade family ever made for the Sims 1, 2, 3, 4, stories, Medieval (royals) and also noted down every single reference to distant relatives and ancestors in other areas of canon, such as object descriptions.
I have traced over the list and highlighted any last names that have repeated more than once in the lore (ei: the Jones family) or families with lore significance (ei: the Grunt family) to make a new list of all the premades that I plan on actually including (families that are only mentioned in things like the family bin of one dlc or a downloadable world may not be included for space)
I organized each town into different time zones / eras , and then went through each family to see which makes appear in which eras. (ei: if the Alto's are in Sunset Valley and not Pleasantview, that means that they were there in the 1950s, but maybe not the current generation)
I am now going to map out each family, all of the sims with those particular last names and which towns they appeared in. If Sim A shares the same last name as Sims B, but Sim A appears in Roaring Heights and Sim B appears in Strangetown, it must mean Sim A is from an older generation of the family. I will then look at genetics, see where I can make matches, and where not, find new spouses. (ei: Victor Goth has a canonical brother but no canonically confirmed parents) This is where i will go back to my list, see which families have "died out" before the modern towns in the hood, and consider them for maternal ancestry of current households.
For another example, if Gretle Goth needs a maiden name, instead of making up a new family and bloating the save, is there a premade family from an older world than it would make sense that she was related to. INSTEAD OF having all premade families being alive and playable at the same time, layering them into a more coherent timeline with the references provided.
After this, I only need to buy my new computer so I can start caring about rebuilding and merging the lots and areas! I'M SO EXCITED.
