One of the most enjoyable things about being a photographer is that in addition to getting to meet great people and make great photos, I get to be the CEO of my own business. I love that part of what I do just as much as the, “Well that’s a cool new photo/light/camera/image,” part. I’m a Shark Tank, Startup and The Profit junkie (and many other business podcasts). 

In that vein, I’d long wanted to photograph a group of local entrepreneurs, but hadn’t found the right venue to make that happen. Then I came across Mass Challenge’s annual, “Minute to Pitch It” event and knew I was in the right place. 

In collaboration with Jeff and his team at Mass Challenge, I setup a small portrait booth and photographed more than 30 entrepreneurs before and after the event. 

The first founder we shot - 12-year-old Matthew Ciampa, the founder of Treasure Socks - http://treasuresocks.com/ was probably my favorite. Matthew has accomplished more with his business at age 12 then many startup founders do in years. Being entrepreneurial for a 12-year-old usually means lawn mowing or a paper route (is that still a thing?), but Matthew is right in the thick of it competing with 20-somethings from MIT.  Right before I took the portrait of him that I use in the series he asked me if he had to smile. I said no, and the next frame was immediately the winner, and is probably my favorite from the series.

Convirtiéndose de esta manera en el socio más joven elegido para asesorar a ejecutivos de alto nivel sobre la estrategia de la tecnología y las tendencias en relación a las nuevas iniciativas del desarrollo de la empresa.

En la actualidad, su labor se centra en el desarrollo y potenciación MassChallenge, llevando su modelo a otros países y regiones del mundo. Al mismo tiempo, trabaja en la construcción del programa acelerador para nuestra nueva clase de 125 empresas con mentores, talleres y contenido increíble.

MassChallenge Opens Program: 5 Socially Powered Startups To Watch

MassChallenge startup competition had their award ceremony last night in Boston.  One million dollars was given to 17 startup companies in various fields.  ArtVenue was the only arts startup to win.  Support the arts!!!!!!!!!!
