Hey guys! I actually had the chance to experience the “ride” Mass Effect: New Earth. Please, excuse my pictures as my iphone is on its last legs and it was blindingly sunny out.
Now lemme tell you about it. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR THE RIDE HERE!!! DON’T READ IT IF YOU DON’T WANNA RUIN IT FOR YOUR SELF. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT OF ANDROMEDA THOUGH SO DON’T BE WORRIED. BUT STILL...SPOILERRRRRSSSSS!!
<Before the ride there is a little video that tells you about how you are a citizen taking a ride to Terra Nova. I will post the video in a follow up post. >
Timeline: Somewhere between the Astroid X57 mission and the full-out Reaper invasion of ME:3
The ride is actually in a theatre that is designed to look somewhat citadel-y. 3-D glasses of course are provided. After sitting, you are greeted by an actor who is dressed in Alliance officer robes. He hilariously (though no one else laughed) announces himself to be Captain Conrad Verner. Behind him is a giant mechanical door, the ones all abounds in ME2 (you know the ones). After he greets the crowd and tells you that you are ready for takeoff Avina appears. She assists in “take off” and some banter with Conrad Verner. As you finally approach the Mass Effect Relay, you run into the Normandy that is (for some reason) piloted by Garrus. There is banter between Garrus and the live actor Conrad Verner. Finally, you fly through the Mass Effect Relay. The seats rock and shake to match the propulsion.
You reach TerraNova and are informed by Avina that there has been some sort of emergency. You cruise around Terra Nova and you guessed it-run into a Reaper. Live actor is furiously piloting the ship and trying to avoid the Reaper’s beams. You run into some foliage and BAM! out comes the Rachni Queen. She sprays you with a mist (you are actually sprayed) and you are out galavanting again. The Normandy shows up again and Garrus enlists your help in fighting the reaper by going for the weak spot aka the eye of the Reaper. Wrex has also decided to help by piloting the Mako (to distract the Reaper I guess)! He makes jokes about how it’s not easy to drive.
So you are crashing around TerraNova trying to avoid the Reaper’s beams and using your guns to shoot the eye. Finally, after the Reaper damages the ship and shears off one of the guns, you literally crash into the Reaper’s eye. The ship is lodged to keep the mechanism from closing and protecting the eye. The ship furiously shoots the eye of the Reaper and you guessed it, kill the Reaper.
The ship you are on continues to crash. The actor spins out of control. Garrus and Wrex congratulate Conrad on a work well done. The actor ends the ride pretending to be “too dizzy” to pilot anymore.
Please DM for any questions. I uploaded this with no editing.

Minor complaints: besides the actual content of the ride itself, Bioware/EA didn’t generate new content. All the vinyl wraps at the exit (my phone had died at that point) were just the prints from the Bioware store blown up to wall size.
Gift shop was only t-shirts from the Bioware store. No exclusives or anything smaller like keychains
Also, I think I wanted Conrad Verner to gush over Shepard some more but that’s ok.
STUFF I LOVED:
-No mention of Shepard’s gender and a display of both’s armor as pictured above (though they put it in a weird corner that was sectioned off and I couldn’t get to it :/)
-They used Garrus and Wrex’s voice actors
-CONRAD VERNER

We have been to the Mass Effect: New Earth ride at Great America, and it is glorious.
Couldn’t package up the full experience, but here’s the video they show while you’re standing in line. There are even more references and in-jokes once you get inside. Highly recommended. :-) :-) :-)
Mass Effect New Earth Opens at California's Great America Review
Mass Effect: New Earth opens at California's Great America today - READ MORE:
After several weekends of “beta testing” California’s Great America officially opened “Mass Effect: New Earth” to the general public today.
So, did the park finally “dial in” the attraction?
In a word…yes.

I’ve written about the ride experience previously, but that was based on the “beta” experience. Thankfully, the park took feedback from guests and made…
