5 More Popular Things Couples Do When In Niagara Falls
I recently put together a list of 5 popular things couple do while in Niagara Falls. Once my article was published I started receiving comments on ‘other’ things that couple can do while visiting this popular city.
So, without further adieu, please accept these 5 more exciting ideas that couples can try while in Niagara.
Indulge in Sweets
Any smart man worth his weight in fudge knows that the key to a woman’s heart is with chocolate, and Niagara Falls is full of Sweets & Treats, especially the Hershey Store located on Falls Avenue near the Rainbow Bridge and Main artery into Niagara Falls, Ontario CANADA. Free samples of their world famous chocolate & fudge awaits!
Winter Fun
Where can a Canadian or Canuck wannabe go when mother nature lays down its cold white blanket of snow for a long winter season? Niagara Falls pulls out all the stops when it comes to this festive time of year. Bundle up and head outside to gaze at the Niagara Falls, sometimes nearly frozen over in what natives in this area have dubbed the Ice Bridge. Head out and stay warm, by pulling out that old set of blades and lace up for a fun afternoon at the Rink on the Brink, a new addition to the many activities that are offered during the winter. A highlight every year and the best part of winter in Niagara is the Winter Festival of Lights, where the Niagara Parkway becomes 5 kilometres of Winter Wonderland with millions of coloured lights creatively displayed as beautiful words of art.
Outdoor Recreation & Wilderness
If summer recreation is what you looking for, there is an area of Niagara falls that some tourists can miss if they are not diligent in researching the many parks & recreational areas available to the public.
If you enjoy wilderness than Dufferin Islands is one such place. The home of the Winter Festival of lights during the winter becomes a quiet, secluded 10 acre nature preserve during the other warmer seasons.
Historical Tours & Culture
If it is history or culture you’re looking for than you don’t have to go far. The Niagara Region is rich in historical venues. A favorite stop is Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Restored and often referred to as ‘Haunted’ Fort George is a remnant of the war of 1812.
If live theatre is more your thing, The Shaw Festival is the place to be. Offering full theatrical renditions of popular plays, this night out definitely offers a cultural feeling to your evening, especially when combined with a wine tour or tasting at one of the many wineries scattered throughout the area.
Thrill-Seeking
Couples are not all about romance. People young & old still seek thrills & adventure. Niagara Falls is rich in this type of excitement. If indoor skydiving at the Niagara FreeFall and Interactive Centre is not for you, how about a hike down into the Niagara Glen & Whirlpool. The Niagara Gorge is a great hike, if you’re willing to transverse the exhausting trip back up the stairs. What a workout!
Oakville's First Annual Culinary Mash-Up!
This Saturday, Oakville is holding its first annual Culinary Mash-Up! 6 different chefs are given a box of ingredients moments before the contest begins which they must use to make a delicious meal within a designated time. Their creations are then served to a judging panel.
Infant Organics is helping to provide the organic produce for the event as a way to promote our local farmers, as well as the 100 Mile Diet, and we thank Laura from The 3 S's Restaurant very much for allowing us this opportunity. We will also have a table display at the event with information about us, our products, and samples of our new baked goods and breakfast foods!
To add to the excitement, Massimo Capra will be on hand throughout the day, leading the festivities and giving feedback on the results of the contest. We are pleased to be able to sell copies of his cookbook in our shop all week long. If purchased through us or one of the other Oakville businesses taking part in the event, you can bring the book with you on Saturday for a meet and greet signing with Massimo himself!
We can't think of a more fun and exciting way to get the community together and celebrate the onset of fall. We hope you'll be there to join us. You might even see yourself on TV!
