#massive brain dump

Hey so… recently my brain decided to wake up and dump out a Gravity Falls AU for Netflix’s Stranger Things.

This is merely a brief introduction, enough to where it doesn’t get overbearing.

Here it is:

When a 12-year old girl named Jane “Eleven” Ives and her childhood friend/brother figure Dustin Henderson are sent from California by Jane’s single mother Terry, the two travel to a sleepy Oregon town called Gravity Falls to—by Terry’s words—get some fresh air.

There they met the stoic yet impulsive conman named Jim Hopper, a close friend of Terry’s, and the man who’ll watching El and Dustin for the summer. Hopper is in charge of the Mystery Shack, a massive tourist attraction in town.

We have two other employees working at the shack: Nancy Wheeler (the gift shop cashier and Dustin’s crush) as well as Johnathan Byers (the introverted yet always helpful handyman/photographer).

It seems like it would be the same boring summer as back in California.

But it all changes when Dustin finds a mysterious journal in the middle of the woods.

From tiny bearded gnomes, living wax figures, and to even hispanic mermen from the sea, El and Dustin will end up experience strange phenomenas and solve mysteries while also nearly dying from crazy monsters.

However, deep underneath the shack, lies a hidden secret in the making from Hopper, desperately trying to bring back the love of his life.

Not to mention that an ancient evil from a parallel world watches over the town, and has its eyes set on chaos and the annihilation of the Earth!

This will be a summer that El and Dustin would never forget!

I'm so stressed about this wedding now.

Teddy woke up at 7 and I got him back to sleep but then I lay in bed for hour trying to think of a solution before making the decision to get up. I checked on my men 10 mins ago and they're both still snoozing.

I replied to my niece's message and said we hadn't realized and that we may not be able to attend now, but I'm trying to figure something out. I've posted on FB to see if any of my work friends from Canberra are likely to be in Sydney in Feb, but I'm extremely doubtful. At least then it'd be someone I knew and was comfortable with. The RSVP for the wedding is the 31st of December which really doesn't leave much time to sort this out considering Christmas is in a week.

Cost for us to go to the wedding was already going to be ridiculous so I don't really want to add a babysitter to that. I've emailed the hotel we're going to be staying at to see if they offer a service, but I'm so uncomfortable with a stranger looking after him - which is ironic because that's literally what my job is when I'm working, but there's the whole orientation process with childcare, there isn't with a babysitter.

My other solutions include still going down the weekend of the wedding because we were planning to drive down Friday, go to the zoo on the Saturday and then the wedding on the Sunday and drive back Monday. So at least that we can still go to the zoo? Mum doesn't know wtf she's going to do now either, because she won't drive if we aren't going because she can't deal with city traffic. So she'll either have to plane or train it to Sydney. The train is 7 hours, flying is 30ish mins, driving is about 6 hours.

I fully understand that it's my niece's day and all that jazz, but I wish she have had let me know when she first messaged me about the wedding in October. I would've had more time to figure out what we're going to do. They've only made the decision to have a kid free wedding since their engagement party last month, because they had someone's child screaming through the speeches.

Honestly it wouldn't be such an issue if we lived closer. I'm not leaving my son with family up here because it isn't practical when we're going to bw away for at least two nights if we drive and don't do the zoo, or probs one if we fly.

I'm hella frustrated and didn't really need an extra stress in the lead up to Christmas.
