Ken really likes to look up to Aki despite his friendship with Shinji.

Cue The Answer, where Ken totally teams up with Aki... and together they form "Team Present". They are also the ones Shinji worries about, and his death greatly affected them both.
Finally, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax happened, and Ken literally became just like Aki: a rather tall and smart middle-schooler, plays soccer, is part of the Student Council, and has lots of fangirls :3
Oh and he gets to take care of Koromaru on his own. 😊
