MassResistance one of the most virulently anti-LGBTQ+ groups out there, and it's looking to end marriage equality.
Trudy Ring at The Advocate:
Those resolutions being proposed in state legislatures urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn marriage equality aren’t happening organically. Instead, they’re the result of an orchestrated campaign by MassResistance, one of the most virulently anti-LGBTQ+ groups in existence. It has often equated homosexuality and bisexuality with pedophilia and bestiality, and it has long demonized transgender people. The group hasn’t been in the news much in the past few years, but its presence has resurged with the anti-marriage equality resolutions. “MassResistance has drafted text for state legislature resolutions that call on the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse its infamous and illegitimate Obergefell ruling,” says a post on the group’s website. “That 2015 decision forced the idea that the U.S. Constitution requires states to allow same-sex ‘marriage.’” Yes, MassResistance is still putting “marriage” in quotes when it comes to queer couples. The resolutions have so far been introduced in five states — Idaho, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Idaho is the only state to pass one to date; the resolutions failed in Montana and South Dakota and remain pending in the other states. MassResistance expects one to be introduced in Iowa as well. They are nonbinding — it would take a case getting to the high court for it to reconsider the marriage equality decision — but MassResistance sees the measures as “an important public message” that “can create positive momentum across the country,” according to its website.
The beginnings of MassResistance
The organization now known as MassResistance was founded in 1995 as the Parents’ Rights Coalition. It’s based in Waltham, Mass. — yes, in one of the most liberal and LGBTQ-friendly states in the nation. It has chapters in numerous other states and has worked with anti-LGBTQ+ activists around the world. Brian Camenker has been its director since its founding. In 1996, as president of another group, the Interfaith Coalition of Massachusetts, he led efforts to draft a bill requiring that parents in the state be notified if their children’s schools are offering sex education. But MassResistance was just getting started. Things really ramped up in 2003, when the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled in favor of marriage equality. The Parents’ Rights Coalition changed its name to Article 8 Alliance, a reference to Article 8 of the Massachusetts Declaration of Rights, a part of the state constitution establishing the people’s right to recall elected officials. But the course opponents of marriage equality took was to try to amend the Massachusetts constitution to nullify the ruling, an effort backed by then-Gov. Mitt Romney. MassResistance refers to this period as the “‘gay marriage’ crisis.” At any rate, the state did not amend its constitution, and same-sex couples began marrying when the ruling went into effect May 17, 2004. “We adopted the name MassResistance in 2006 when our role as the true resistance to tyrannical government became clear,” the organization’s website says. “Since we were in the first state to see homosexual activism in the schools and ‘gay marriage,’ we thoroughly understood the threat of sexual radicalism, curtailed freedom of speech, uneven application of the law, judicial activism, and post-constitutional government.”
MassResistance, the far-right anti-LGBTQ+ extremist hate group from Waltham, MA, is behind the resolutions to overturn the 2015 Obergefell ruling by SCOTUS that granted nationwide marriage equality.

The religious right would have you believe that it’s only trying to give socially conservative Americans a place at the table. However, this is a sham. Whenever they think they’re in unguarded moments, their true extremism comes out. They don’t want you to know that, though. Whenever they actually get called on it, they scream and wail that those calling them out are the real bigots. We got a…

Mass Resistance
MassResistance, “the leading pro-family grassroots activist group in Massachusetts,” began life in 1995 as the Parents’ Rights Coalition, became the Article 8 Alliance in 2003, and took on its current name in 2006. Its leader, Brian Camenker, is a programmer who was an official of the Article 8 Alliance and also headed the Newton, Mass., chapter of the National Taxpayers’ Association.
A leading pro-family activist organisation, MassResistance provides the information and guidance people need to confront assaults on the traditional family, school children, and the moral foundation of society. Based in Massachusetts, we have supporters and activists in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and several foreign countries.
The group is designated an anti-LGBT hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, in part for claims linking LGBT people with pedophilia and zoophilia, and claims that suicide prevention programs aimed at gay youth were created by homosexual activists to normalize and "lure" children into homosexuality. (https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map#s=MA )
The U.S.-based Southern Poverty Law Center lists MassResistance as a hate group and one of the 18 top anti-gay groups in the United States. Among other things, the group claims that gays are also trying to get legislation allowing sex with animals and to lure children into homosexuality and sadomasochism. Typical of the conspiracy theories associated with such organisations — some of which believe that the American Psychiatric Association is controlled by homosexuals — MassResistance also accuses the CIA and FBI of having a “homosexual agenda.” (https://sentinel.tw/us-hate-group-anti-lgbt/ )
Evident on their official website (https://www.massresistance.org/ ), Mass resistance go around the United states preventing LGBT events from taking places such as crashing Pride parades, Forcing schools to remove LGBT literature, exposing Drag Queens and preventing them from performing in front of kids, infiltrating transgender awareness sessions for teachers,
MassResistance has always maintained staunch opposition to same-sex marriage. In its booklet, What same-sex 'marriage' has done to Massachusetts, Camenker characterizes acceptance of same-sex marriage as "a hammer to force the acceptance and normalization of homosexuality on everyone". The organisation objects to schools teaching children that same-sex marriages are a normal part of society. They cite "radical" activist judges and "cowardly" politicians as factors in the increasing acceptance of same-sex marriage, and warn the public to fight back. (https://www.massresistance.org/docs/marriage/effects_of_ssm_2012/intro.html )
MassResistance opposes laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of gender identity.
On Nov. 6, 2018, Massachusetts voters preserved an existing nondiscrimination law by passing the Massachusetts Gender Identity Anti-Discrimination Initiative with 68% of the vote, that protects the right of people to access public accommodations based on the gender with which they identify. MassResistance had campaigned unsuccessfully with "highway standouts, leafleting, and some public debates” ,to strike down the law. The organisation posted an article several days later criticising the campaign efforts. (https://www.massresistance.org/docs/gen3/18d/NoTo3/election-analysis.html )

Drag Queen Who Read to Kids at Houston Library Is Convicted Pedophile
A drag queen who read stories to children at a Houston public library last year is a convicted pedophile considered to be at risk of repeating his offense — a fact uncovered by parents opposed to “Drag Queen Storytime,” not by library officials, law enforcement, or the supposed watchdog news media. Empirical research shows bathroom predator concerns are baseless.
Sofia Lotto Persio at PinkNews:
The realisation came as part of an analysis of the failure of the anti-trans campaign published on the website of MassResistance, an organisation claiming to advocate for family rights. The hate crime watchdog Southern Poverty Law Center classifies MassResistance as a anti-LGBT hate group.
The question of repealing a non-discrimination law protecting transgender rights was posed on the ballot during November’s midterm elections.
Voters in Massachusetts overwhelmingly opted to keep Senate Bill 2407, the 2016 measure that enforces protections against “discrimination in places of public accommodation, resort, or amusement.”
MassResistance described arguments based on bathroom predator scenarios as “concocted”
The MassResistance analysis on the anti-trans campaign’s defeat criticised the focus on the so-called “bathroom safety” argument—the baseless claim that non-discrimination laws expose women-only spaces to sexual predators.
During the referendum campaign, anti-trans groups produced a visual interpretation of the argument, creating a video ad that trans campaigners criticised as “fear-mongering” and relying on “lies.”
The video featured a scene in which a man hides in a toilet cubicle as a teenage girl walks in and begins to undress as the man peers out of the cubicle.
The MassResistance post, which does not have an author—but presumably reflects the viewpoint of the group’s founder and president, Brian Camenker—described the “bathroom safety” argument as “technically true, but was largely contrived.”
It also advised future anti-trans activists to propose “more inflammatory alternative arguments” such as rejecting “the LGBT movement’s ‘civil rights’ argument” and describe being trans as “a mental disorder and a destructive ideology.”
MassResistance argued that the “bathroom safety” argument is no longer effective, claiming that the “LGBT+ lobby” has understood how to defeat it—without elaborating on how or why this may be the case.
“Our side concocted the ‘bathroom safety’ male predator argument as a way to avoid an uncomfortable battle over LGBT ideology, and still fire up people’s emotions,” the post read.
“But the LGBT lobby has now figured out how to beat it. Their lopsided victory in Massachusetts will likely be repeated everywhere else unless the establishment pro-family groups (and their wealthy donors) are willing to change their tactics.”
I really don’t know why I haven’t seen this on here yet.
MassResistance is an awful Massachusetts-based anti-LGBTQ hate group which authored a 600-page book called The Hazards of Homosexuality, warned that gays are “preying” on children at LGBT youth centers, said that anti-gay violence is the natural reaction to too much gay PDA, and pushed for the cancellation of Red Sox Pride night because of the children, among other things.
They just had their annual summit, and launched it with the performance you see below.
No further commentary is necessary.
