“I’m sorry…who are you?”
All she had to do was tell him where she was, and once she did he was out of the door. He got dressed quickly and made his way to his car, plugging in his phone and using the navigation he made his way over to her. He remembered what to expect when she was drunk like this. He remembered when they were together in college... how much of a lightweight she was. He wondered if she still was. He remembered how she’d crave fast food after a big night of drinking. Finally he got to the 21st Amendment and parked his car with the hazard lights on as he took his phone out to text her and let her know he was there. “Here. In the black BMW with the hazard lights on.” // @avamendoza

Matt: Hey! How are you today?
“Yeah so, I never ended up getting that bow and arrow ....” Matthew said with grief evident in his face. He didn’t want to disappoint, but life got in the way and he didn’t find the time to go to the sport’s store and get it. @ellymunro

It had been years and maybe it was too late, but he wanted a relationship with his kid. Even if he had to fight for the privilege, he was going to get it one way or another. Walking up to Ava’s door, he wasn’t sure what the outcome would be. He of course hoped for the best, but expected the worst. Ava wasn’t the type to hold back on anything she felt. Matt knew she wouldn’t take it easy on him. Why should she? He essentially abandoned them. He always sends a funded check, but that was all and he truly wanted to do more. He just hoped she’d understand that.
Knocking on the door, Matthew felt nerves. He thought of all the ways he could open up with this conversation, but the minute the door opened all he could say was “Hey.” However, this greeting wasn’t a dry one at all. He was taken back by how beautiful she looked. After all these years her beauty still gave him chills. He’s an idiot, how could he ever let someone like that go? Snapping out of his reverie, he looked her in the eyes, getting serious now. “We need to talk.”
Matthew was sitting at the bar, once again drowning himself in whiskey after he had texted his ex that he would back off, reflecting back on his past mistakes and on how aggressive he could be. He just kept feeling like everything he tried to do was wrong. Lifting up his glass to drink, Matt continued to stare forward at all the bottles of alcohol, he still had hope because he was still going to meet his daughter, but as for his and Ava’s future he didn’t think there would be one. Going to take another sip, the glass fell onto the counter and spilled the rest of his whiskey. “Damnit!” He groaned, picking up the glass and grabbing napkins. “I’m sorry, I’ll get you a drink,” Matt said as he tried to clean up. // @suttoncampbell
