I nearly posted a rant on Master & Apprentice by Claudia Rey but I resisted. Not a fan alas. (Nearly threw the book at the wall when Obi-Wan was talking about kyber crystals changing colour. Gtfo…) Give me the classic Jedi Apprentice books and even Cloak of Deception. Totally realising my Star Wars era has come and gone. Disney can keep it. I’m going back to my fanfics from 2003.

I'm reading Master & Apprentice by Claudia Gray, a Star Wars book mostly set like when Obi-Wan is 17 (so 8 years before The Phantom Menace, so like 40 BBY), but also has some stuff when Qui Gon was a Padawan, including him reading The Chosen One Prophecy. Which had be go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, there's a scene in 40 BBY where the about-to-step-down Chancellor asks Qui Gon for some advice of what gift to buy Yoda, "he's so hard to shop for".

What do you get the 900 year old little creature who has everything?

When 900 years you reach, hard to shop for you will be.

I genuinely didn’t get all the Qui-Gon hype until I read Master & Apprentice and since then he’s shot up to my #3 favorite character
