✨hello!!✨
My name is Han and I am currently a master's student in Dance Leadership and Community Practice. As someone recently diagnosed with ADHD, I have become aware of how pervasive masking is for me and I began to realize that I felt most myself, most unmasked, when I was dancing. This account is just here as a catalogue of my personal practice as part of my research into unmasking. Through an exploration of identity and public facing persona, this research aims to explore the presence of masking in public life for all neurotypes and the possibility of using movement to deconstruct that mask. If you're at all interested in the research (or even just watching me wiggle around in the studio) I'd love it if you gave this account a follow! x
Introduction/Questionnaire Invite!
Hello! I am currently pursuing research as a part of my master’s degree in dance leadership and community practice. I am interested in how others experience masking and its relationship to movement. I am looking for people who have or had a movement or physical practice (e.g. dancing, running, weight lifting, hiking, etc.) to complete a 10-20 minute questionnaire to support my research. This questionnaire aims to expand your understanding and explore your experience of masking and its presence in your daily life. If you are interested in participating in this questionnaire, follow the link below!
One of Many Reasons School is a StRugGle
I just spent the better part of two hours writing a single barely relevant paragraph for my paper that is due on Wednesday. I now have 2 whole pages done. Just 28 more to go...
an rough mock-up of my research project complete with lorem ipsum text
when in doubt, do your master’s research on how women in the MCU are treated like trash and arguing that They Obviously Deserve Better
this is just the tip of the iceberg and i had to start small for my methods/theory class but for my thesis i plan to do content/character analyses on all main female characters in the MCU
I have survived my first year of grad school, made it through advancement and now have to complete my thesis research over the summer. My stress level is already rising.
My Presentation
My presentation at today’s Graduate Showcase went really well! And I thought I might as well post the slides here, in case anyone is interested. Obviously, there is missing information, since a lot of my content was spoken, and it only hits on two of my research questions; my actual master's thesis will include several additional questions. Also, all the stats were removed, as this was geared toward a non-scientific audience. Still, it should give an idea about the focus of my research.
