In other mastermind au news, Kaede does it for her twin sister, I thought that was a fun twice, Junko starts a killing game to kill her sister, while Kaede allies with the cult of hate and apathy to get the technology and help to get her sister onto the ship in stasis where she'll be safe, both from her infection and from meteors, and if she has to sacrifice her classmates to a weird sadistic game to keep them both alive now? She'll do it, she'd do it a thousand times over.

Because they’d stuck together since the beginning of the game, nobody realized they were the masterminds. Instead, they thought that they were the leaders of the group.
The reason Kaede “killed” early on in the game was so she could be “executed” and run the killing game better from behind the scenes. This ended up working very well for them.
Shuichi, of course, knew what was going to happen because of this. How else would he be so on-point with all of the evidence? He knew exactly how everything was going to play out.
What a shock it was to the other four when Shuichi revealed that not only was Kaede the mastermind, but he was, too! The two of them were not only a couple, but a couple of masterminds.
Having two people to take down was much more of an uphill climb, especially since Shuichi had the most information and sway of the survivors. Good luck beating both of them!
