After the news of the Stranger Things play came out, I thought one thing: Who knows what Hopper's Father was like? I imagine him to be the classic family man all of a piece, tough, strict to duty, conformist, suspicious and old-fashioned. And who always demanded a lot from his son, but without ever being satisfied.
So a very negative and present father figure who did not approve of his son's rebellion and friendships. In fact of the fourth season Hop says that he went to war, just to prove to his father that he was not as shitty as he thought.
So, yes a relationship that Hop finds very complicated even as an adult. It would be interesting to see Hopper's father in this play.
