FIC: Christmas Shipping (MLB/Lukanette)
Rating: Teen and Up
Characters/Pairings: Brielle Girard (OC), Luka Couffaine, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Rose Lavillant; Luka Couffaine/Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Juleka Couffaine/Rose Lavillant (Background)
Summary: It’s Rose and Juleka’s first Christmas as an official couple, and Rose just wants to get her something special, honest. There really was no ulterior motive behind all the pictures she was texting Luka that day. After all, he knows his sister best, right? She just wanted his opinion on a few things…
Author’s Notes/Warnings: It’s still technically Christmas right? Christmas-adjacent? 😂 This started as a joke with Laurel about Yenta Rose texting Luka pictures of Marinette “on accident” at the beginning of December, and then it just fought me and refused to get done for Christmas. I’ve got about 10k of fic here and 10k in a scratchpad of drafts and rewrites and screaming at the fic. 😂 Happy General Winter Holidays?
“Christmas Shipping”
“Pleeeease?”
Luka sighed and leaned back against the wall behind his bed, closing his eyes so he wouldn’t be tempted to roll them. On the other end of the phone pressed to his ear, he would swear Rose was whimpering.
“Ro, I have to practice today,” he sighed. “The concert is Friday, and I’ve got work all week. I’m still struggling with that progression in the bridge. I have to work on it – Sinclair will have my ass if I don’t have it perfect.”
“Oh, please, it’s you,” Rose huffed. While her confidence in him was touching, her blithe dismissal of his concerns was not. “Of course it will be perfect – you’re overthinking it, Luka! Besides, I’m only asking for an hour!”
“We both know it won’t be one hour,” he deadpanned, and Rose humphed again. “Rose, you’re overthinking it. It’s just Christmas. Jules always loves your gifts.”
“But it’s our first Christmas as a couple!” she whined. He bit his tongue at that because it was, technically, true. Even if it felt like they’d been dating since they first met, Luka knew they’d only officially gotten together last summer. “I have to get her something special!”
