She gave a sad smile and nodded. “Me too.” Things weren’t really the same since everything went down. Billy was gone. Leslie was on her own. The gang didn’t seem to hang out as much as they used to. Everyone was just too busy doing their own thing. But she felt a bit of COMFORT as she huddled up to Jules. “I wish everything could go back to the way it was. I never thought growing up would be so... lonely.” She paused, almost taken aback by her own admission before looking over to her friend. “I think we need a drink, don’t you?”

“I never thought that I’d ask this in earnest but what’s a girl like you doing in a dive like this?” He asked the stylish woman at the bar as he settled in for a drink. Not a lot of pretty girls at the cop bar most nights which was part of the reason he favored it.

Leslie hadn’t even realized there was a mistletoe at first. Upon arriving at the Christmas party, she rushed over to greet Jules and before she knew it, they had accidentally ended up standing right below it. People had noticed and some seemed to stare hopefully. Leslie felt terribly embarrassed. She was never one to stick out in the middle of the room. She could feel eyes on her and in an attempt to swallow some of her nerves, she took a swig of her drink and pushed off the doorway she was leaning on.

“Well, I hate to break tradition,” Leslie laughed. At least it was Jules she was trapped with. There were very few people in the world she would feel comfortable being in this position with and Jules was one of them. She slowly leaned forward and gently placed her lips against hers.
