MATH 212 (Statistics) with Harry "Dean" Johnson
Math 212 - Introduction to Statistical Methods
Pre-Reqs: Math 101, 103, 106, 108, 140, 171, 201, or ALEKS math placement score of 40%.
Stats is stats. The material was alright but it is KEY to know the distinct differentiation between each method and the definition of each because it helps with understanding the concepts and topics. Go to lecture and you should be fine. TAKE IT WITH DEAN!!!
Harry "Dean" Johnson
DEAN IS MR. MACKEY. If you have ever watched South Park, you'll know who I am talking about, and if you've ever had a class with him, you'll know what I am talking about. Hahahahahaha. Dean is a great professor who likes to have "story time" during lectures and loves cracking jokes.
He was a great professor to have, and even though the grade I received isn't what I wanted (I fucked up on the final exam which is 25% of my grade). I was borderline C/C-, and was nice enough to round up to a C. I was getting a B throughout the entire semester until that final. So, my grade definitely does not reflect on Dean's teaching, but my lack of studying and practice.
Lecture: With that being said, lectures are pretty easy to follow along because you have this image of Mr. Mackey teaching you. I don't know, but that's just me. Your grade is made up of 3 exams (2 of which are 20% of your grade, and the final is 25%), homework (15%), labs (15%), and an easy "project" (5%).
My lecture was at 10AM, and I went maybe half the time. I should have gone to lecture more often, but after a while, I craved sleep more. That was my mistake and led to my C average grade.
Labs: I had a grad student named DJ (that's his nickname). He was great. He was able to answer any question that I had during labs. Which was often because after going to lecture half the time, I got lost as to which what I was being taught. Labs were an EXACT reflection as to what was being taught in lecture.
Good luck.
F.
