Just wanted to say the wobblers we made in class today made me think 1) a mussel shell, the way it is shaped and the fact it does roll about. 2) The wobbler was also shaped somewhat like a boat propeller. It made me wonder if that would influence its effectiveness/other propellers like helicopters etc.
Looking at some symmetry. Notice that the the first picture has both a brick pattern with a fence pattern over it. It makes me wonder if it could still be classified as one of the seventeen wallpaper patterns.
And then a fun tomato dress in a shop window. Again, wonder how the pattern works. When and if I figure it out, I'll wait for you to ketchup.
I was at PAX East when I happened on this table that sold various things made from plastic, and made from this device like a laser woodcutter. One of the things you could get was a fractal vase.
Playing with Mendelbrot's set and Julia sets. I seem to have chosen fractals with rotational symmetry.
Clouds and Fractals
So, the fractal project for math class is coming up. I thought I'd take this moment to say I'm thinking of producing a cloud in a bottle - or, maybe it'll look more like fog....
In any case, I think clouds relates to fractals for the self similarity, and I'm working off of what was said in the Nova movie we watched in class. For as long as you zoom into a bit of cloud, it will look the same. (I don't think I'll have a bottle quite big enough to reproduce that, though. Sorry, folks.)
Lastly, I think it'll further the idea that fractals are found all around us in nature, from ferns to veins, to feathers and trees, and clouds in bottles.
Found this in the gift shop of the Tate Britain.
