I just super love this idea, and this version of them, so I hope you like the art 💙 (and its so goddamn cool that this Paul and Bill affect themselves in other timelines💥)

Paul being emotionally withdrawn and getting uncomfortable and standoffish when Bill tried to be vulnerable with him. he couldn't engage meaningfully with Bill's emotions, his pitiful attempts at comfort were hollow and lacking warmth. Bill didn't feel cared for. and he didn't feel trusted either, because Paul dismissed all of Bill's attempts to check in and connect emotionally, he always closed up.
and on the other side, Bill failing to understand Paul as a person, projecting interests onto him he's said he doesn't share. insisting on certain activities he likes and being upset when Paul didn't have fun. talking down Paul's actual interests - trying to be funny but it didn't land. neither ever able to find a compromise because they're both too stubborn.
they agreed they were better as friends but they never talked about those things. neither of them knew how to articulate it. but it's all still there, even if they pretend it's not.
Bill watching Paul with Emma and feeling a quiet sting of bitterness. why can he be vulnerable and comforting with her? why does he go to musicals with her? what's different, what was Bill doing wrong? why wasn't he enough?
why is he never enough?
