The 10 best dressed at the royal wedding

1. Duchess of Sussex ,Meghan Markle

Of course I could only put at number one, the star of the ceremony: the duchess of Sussex.

Her silk dress with a boat neckline is accompanied by a five metres veil that has embroidered 53 flowers that represent each of the commonwealth countries.

Two additional flowers were added to represent her home state California and Kensington palace.Embeded in the veil was Queen's Mary Diamond bandeau tiara.

2. Duke of Sussex , Prince Harry

We have to say that our beloved Duke has cleaned up well. Looking debonair with his Blues and Royals Military uniform, to which he asked the Queen's permission to wear.

3. Amal Clooney

Amal turning heads with her mustard yellow ensemble. Her golden heels and yellow hat make her stand out.

4. Princess Mabereng Seeiso

Probably the only foreign royal that was invited to the wedding, here is Princess Mabereng of Lesotho in a beautiful african dress, with hot pink flowers.

5. Serena Williams

Baby pink looks good on Serena, her bodycon pink dress and structured hat made her look ethereal.

6. African Aunty

Aunty didn't come here to play. Her royal blue Gele (the headwrap she's wearing ) adorned by pearls is beautiful and attracts the attention of onlookers.

7. Abigail Spencer

Suits co-star is wearing a cool polkadot dress , very different from the typical bodycon , floral or Lacey dress that is popular among the guests that were invited.

8. Girl with the red dress

Adorable girl dressed in red looks stunning, with the sparkles on her dress.

9. Priyanka Chopra

She is always stunning but even more with her coordination of lilac and purple make-up

10. Princess Eugenie and Beatrice

Can't include a picture because of tumblr's pic limit, but this time no complicated hats, especially after being mocked at Duchess of Cambridge's wedding. They looked simple and elegant.Had to give them props.

10 things I learnt at mediatrust

To wrap up these 6 weeks of training, I thought I would talk about the things I learnt at mediatrust. Here they are y'all :

1. Networking is wealth – simple, by knowing people you can unlock the doors that you never thought you could open . People can link you to other people who can advance you to higher places, consequently it becomes a network.

2. Your work is never going to be perfect – Stop it!! Your work is fine , if you spent too many hours (and I'm very much guilty of it ) working on the same thing trying to perfect it (without progress...) , you risk the work not being relevant and well.... useless because it’s never released.

3. Skills are transferable but terms change – Found it interesting to discover that a TV camera operator refers to the lens as iris instead of well...lens !

4. A Good pitch opens the floodgates- literally what I said .

5. Work with what you got – I remember in the past when I was 16 I used to get caught up in the hype of not having a DSLR , which in turn demotivated me, but I learnt that anything can be good with preparation and passion.

6. First Times are always awkward – From vlogs to meeting people , the first time is always weird , but hey you need to get over it.

7. Keeps things Glocal - Report about Global Issues and relate it to a local level.

8. Punctuality – yeah, don’t need to explain this one , would make me a hypocrite if I was preaching about it

9. Cut the noise – like literally, when filming podcasting, and even photographing there is going to be some kind of noise so cut it out or reduce it as much as possible !

10. Jump on every train – Not literally! What I mean that every opportunity available is precious and you should jump on the opportunity because you will never know where it will lead you.

Star Trek Discovery – The flop of the year

From time traveling , alternate universes to Klingon wars , Star Trek has failed to impress neo- viewers and seasoned fans.

Since I was born Star Trek has always been on my TV, I would wake up early in the morning hearing Patrick Stewart saying “ space the final frontier , to boldly go where no one has gone before “ , the sentence itself always made me feel as if I was going to embark on a journey , but nowadays I feel like I’m going to embark onto one of Tyrese Gibson’s meltdowns.

Over the decades Star Trek has been pretty linear and consistent in their format : the characters and the storylines; they always made sense but I guess we can say otherwise now that they plunged Star Trek discovery from depths of the oblivion.

Now you are probably asking what is the problem with Star Trek discovery? Well apart for the really aesthetically displeasing looking Klingons , the history of the whole Star Trek franchise has changed. In addition, I always felt that I was watching a mashup between Avatar and Aliens.

Do I need to continue ? No but I will (yes, it’s a rant y’all), Discovery also features overdone CGI and dry acting , in simple words the TV show has failed to make me connect with the characters consequently not feeling inspired. I often felt that I was watching a snooze fest to which my dad can testify as he always ended up falling asleep 35 minutes into the show , and he is a “seasoneeeed” fan.

But hey there are positives ( are there?) , For instance the show has made an effort to include diversity , as the characters have different backgrounds along with different sexual orientation.

I also can see that an effort was put into revamping the series , despite my annoyance ( here goes the contradiction) I can say that it was ideal as it allows people who may have never watched the franchise to get into it. The show also doesn’t only place women as sidekick’s, they are also the hero!

Overall I guess you can say that I may be afraid of change , but if there’s anything that I despise the most is finishing a series without understanding a blip of what happened, coupled with feeling so underwhelmed, that I just feel like saying , bye Felicia!!

To be honest I will probably end up watching another season just because I can okay!! I have waited far too long for something new, so I have to watch it !!

Truth, Research, Report

Today we had a masterclass with Yahoo (cue in mid-2000 'Yahoooooooo' sound effect ) Sports News Editor Mark Lawford and Assistant News Editor Matilda Long; I have to say that the session turned out to be more fun than expected.

Instead of just a presentation, the session was interactive and I was presented with two energetic individuals that had an engaging aurea, needless to say I could not doze off.

These are the key points that I gathered from the session:

Verify your sources and offer a balanced view : litteraly it's as simple as it is , Get three different accounts of the situation and present factual evidence.

Research , verify and report QUICKLY : pretty self explanatory here.

Diplomacy is key - You often have to be careful when approaching topics as you may end up putting the subject's reputation in a bad light , this may result in Oops : getting sued

Punctuation is the base : without the base you cannot put the sauce on it; you need good punctuation otherwise the article is not going to be taken seriously ( this is not an open invitation to correct me on my grammar and punctuation 😂😂😂)

Watch the tone : Again this relates back to how you write about other individuals and in what situations are you putting the subject in question . Is it accusatory ? Biased ? If so , you may need to review the article again and make changes .

Recognise where you stand in a company : if you do not appreciate the tone and the way a news company is asking you to report information , and is infringing your core values , you should carefully consider whether to continue.

Enjoy your job : I think enjoying your job is a point that can be transferable to other careers ; how can you live your best life , if you are doing something you hate.
