Fashionably ten years late to the party I am discovering the headcanon about Asari tendrils growing their whole life.
Idk what to think of it, just wanted to sketch some old tentacled ladies
forgot that in mass effect 2 if you’re romancing liara this can be one of the first things shepard ever hears their girlfriend’s dad say to them before either of them even know who the other is lmaooo
Nobody messes with their girl ♥️
This is the first time this line caught me. Aethyta, as a Matriarch, was out there trying to get her people and others off their asses to build new relays.
This suggests to me that she also most likely suggested perhaps exploring alternative technology and new ways of thinking. Expanding beyond the "Prothean" technology they all took for granted. She was thinking ahead and worrying about putting all your eggs in one basket.
That's fascinating actually
It's hinted a few times that Matriarch Aethyta is taking the lead in the asari war effort.
This one is when you give the biotic amps from Grissom Academy to the asari scientist in the Huerta Memorial Hospital:
Asari Scientist: "Tell Matriarch Aehyta that our huntresses should have the upgrades waiting for them on their next shore leave.
"No, they were very easy to scale. The humans made some amazing breakthroughs."
"So now, I serve drinks."
CONFESSION:
I honestly can't stand the Asari and I think their pride, arrogance and not wanting to change helped put the galaxy in the trajectory of the reapers but I really liked Liara's father Aethyta for wanting to change the system and get rid of old traditions. And I loved Aethyta's protective nature towards Liara.
