day 014/??? of studyblr stuff
I still don’t have a full split, but I finally got into a new pose! I went to the aquarium last weekend, and was able to grab some brunch after a doctor’s appointment last week while I got some reading done. today was a bit of a wash and I wasn’t able to do the growth I wanted to, but we’ll try again tomorrow.
pictured: (attempt at) stellar split pose on aerial silks, though my bottom leg isn’t straight; a group of garden eels peeking out of sand; beautiful french toast and a smoothie with an academic paper for reading.

Midnight notes for my Matsci Midterm
All six of my grad school applications are submitted!!
On my first day of the semester I got an email stating that the paper I am third author on has been published in the journal of applied physics!!!
I have a zoom interview Friday for one of the schools I applied to!
I get to attend the virtual Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics this weekend!!!! This conference holds a special place in my heart and in the past three years I have attended I have witnessed tremendous personal and professional growth!
I’m grinding and working two jobs on top of my classes and independent study courses!!
Past me would have NEVER imagined this as a future for myself, yet here I am and I am SO HAPPY AND PROUD OF MYSELF.
Things are still hard af, but I refuse to allow myself to succumb to a negative headspace during my last semester of undergrad.
If anyone is interested...

Computational Thermodynamics
I am interested in learning more about computational thermodynamics and I am wondering if anyone can recommend some resources. I have looked a little online but there are a large number of textbooks and I want to make sure I get a good one.
Thanks!

class is going well, got my second booster shot, and had a lovely nature walk.
last week I got practice with the diamond saw for substrates, continued to refine my breakfast, and read the witches of moonshyne manor by bianca marais, which was a delightful way to set the october mood. it’s cooled way down now, so it’s time to get my sweaters into rotation and embrace the spook!
currently reading: the babysitter lives by stephen graham jones

catching up on some old updates since the last few weeks have been so! busy!
did some soldering, turned out to be unnecessary but it was good practice since I haven’t soldered in… years. went fabric shopping at the coolest place but I haven’t had time to even start the project I got supplies for because I was so busy with halloween prep (made the top myself!) additionally, I am really proud of my pinhead costume; I barely ever do painting or even makeup beyond one color of eyeshadow, so this was an undertaking!
today I have a journal club presentation, a preliminary report to compile, and then I may fall asleep at aerial practice after being in a fist fight with my pastry last night until 2AM 😴
I got polls back! pick my first STM sample:
BiFeO3 (type i, lone-pair mechanism)
LuFe2O4 (type i, charge-ordering mechanism)
Fe3O4 (type i, charge-ordering?)
GdFeO3 (type ii, exchange striction mechanism)
I will pick on my own obviously but wouldn’t it be fun if we picked the same one :)
