hhhhh i meant to have this done for pride because something about pride always makes me want to draw people being sappy with each other but That Didn't Happen so here we are. blaze firehades and matt fayette, my beloveds. you were my first ocs and It Shows lmao. we love an acespec boy in love with his pansexual not-girlfriend (they do start dating eventually but they take awhile to really sort out that whole thing.
i like to think matt recognized he loves her A Lot Faster than she does, and almost everyone knows it, because he cannot help but look at her like she is the sun (except yknow. not burning anyones eyes) and shes just like "i always feel so safe and comfortable around him :) wonder what that means!"
we are a dumbass friendly household here, we love dumbasses
Once considered the surrogate “dad” figure of FireClan, Matt Fayette was beloved by nearly every single person who ever met him. He was the only person who could completely talk Blaze down from her rages, a skill that made the clan run smoothly and negotiations with other clans more likely to succeed. He became the official ambassador of the clan when he was eighteen and died at twenty thanks to Dominic Tolibos claws.
While alive, Matt had a kind word and kinder smile for everyone. He was the one to encourage Blaze to recreate FireClan and remained her biggest supporter even after death. The two began dating just a bit before Blaze turned sixteen and accidentally conceived Hiccup sometime in that span. Matt was described to be a very diligent father, constantly tending to his son's needs and encouraging him to be the best that he could. Matt suffered from depression which he hid fairly well and was unhappy to find his son had inherited the illness.
Matt believed everyone deserved at least three chances to better themselves and never held past mistakes against a person if they were genuinely trying to be better. He also maintained a mindset that no creature or species was better than the other, a concept that made him fairly unpopular with the more traditionalist warriors. He often considered himself a bit of an outsider, thanks to his half-human status in the clan, but did his best to emphasize with everyone.
Upon his death, it’s said the entire clan grieved for the loss. Not a single eye was dry, not a single face was neutral or happy in that time. The few “senior warriors” of the clan were rendered so helpless to the grief that it took a lot of time and talking to get them back to a somewhat functional state. The only ones who never fully recovered were Blaze and Hiccup.
