Matt Gilbert v. Lee Atkins
"By the Light of the Moon"
Original song by legendary Boston street performer Matt Gilbert. Video/audio captured at Quincy Porch Fest.
— Matt Gilbert
“Wild music, charged to blow all wrongs apart, scattering the dust comfort of dejection. Nightmare fades to dream. (..)”
This is the legendary Boston street performer, Matt Gilbert! Matt has struggled with homelessness, amongst other problems, and here he is showcasing a new verse to his song about homelessness.
I think the song's done. The next step in all this is to produce a serious recording, with (I imagine) a band accompanying him...
Before you ask, yes, that's my voice you hear cueing him to start!
So Matt Gilbert, a well known local street performer, asked me to record a jam session of his. Which is weird, because that’s not Matt you see there.
Our goal here was capturing the sound more so than the image, which I think we accomplished.
Plenty more where these came from but Tumblr has some pretty small size limits...
Those are some pretty HOT duck faces!
It's been a while since I've listened to this song repeatedly.
