'Dummy Jim', directed by Matt Hulse, and based on the story of a deaf and mute cyclist from Aberdeenshire who cycled to the Arctic Circle in 1951, has its UK premiere at this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival! The One Ensemble created a lot of the music for this wonderful film, and you can buy the CD here.
The first Arts Birthday Wales event in 2012 took place on Friday 13th January at the YMCA with Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
Matt Hulse and Elizabeth Lawrence presented the UK Premiere following its debut at International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2011 of "Three Performances": Old Age Should Burn And Rave At Close Of Day - a short, playful performance piece involving a 'Welshman,' a 'Scotsman' and an 'Englishman,' an arm-wrestling competition and a Dylan Thomas poetry reading. For this version for Arts Birthday the arm wrestlers were Ann Jordan and David Pitt with Barnaby Dicker controlling the vinyl record.
