Personal Opinion: Oh god, Our Friend absolutely destroyed me the first time. I watched it during the at home premiere since the theaters were closed during premiere time. Dakota gives what could possibly be the performance of her career. The grace and respect she played Nicole with was breathtaking. The whole cast truly respected this was a real life story and these people Dane, Matt, Nicole, Molly, Evie- they were these true friends and this real family. It was one of the most heartbreaking and accurate renditions of terminal cancer. It will make you so grateful for friendship and want to just hug your family.
Overall: 8.5/10
*This was based off the article Matthew Teague wrote for Esquire Magazine titled “The Friend: Love Is Not A Big Enough Word*
Side note: The young girls who play the daughters (Isabella Kai Rice and Violet McGraw) still have other projects. Catch Violet McGraw as young Yelena in Black Widow premiering July 9th.
Happy Matt (Casey Affleck) on “Our Friend”.
