From The Heart {Ada&Matt}
Maybe it was some sort of shock to people that Ada was even capable of putting anyone before herself, but it had happened. Somehow someway one person had managed to get past her walls and she let her guard down. Sure he was kind, but it was something more than that that she couldn’t put her finger on. Ada had avoided emotions and the messy consequence of actually giving a damn for a long time. No one had got to her this way, and it was bothersome.
When she approached Tyler about it, he had simply told her to keep her mouth shut. No doubt for Matt’s well being. She was a vampire and he was a human. How much more black and white did it get? Those things never worked, and she hated herself for potentially setting herself up for total heartbreak.
If Ada kept it to herself for much longer though, she would burst. Telling Tyler was one thing, but actually having the guts to say it to Matt’s face was another. She avoided it and just stuck with regular old conversations. At least until today. During the last run in she had asked if he could meet her at one of the local cafe’s the following day to talk. If she had made him nervous then she hadn’t meant to, but she was anxious.
Sat at one of the tables, Ada clutched a coffee mug in one hand as she watched the door.
