Absorbed in thoughts you walked down the stairs to give Hodge your mission report as you felt a known hand stopping you. Your breathe hitched so quickly. You slowly looked up, almost like you were scared. “Where are you heading?” Alec asked, not letting go of your arm. He didn’t hold it too tight, it was a gentle grip. You glanced at him and tried to control your breathing. 

Alec and you had been friends for very long time now and you were unusually comfortable with each other that some things like grabbing your arm and holding it was totally normal. “I have to give my mission report to Hodge,” you replied with a soft smile. 

Alec cleared his throat. Suddenly he appeared extremely nervous. You opened up your mouth to ask him if he’s alright, but he interrupt you. “Can you come to my room after that? I have to talk to you about something.” 

You frowned firstly, then nodded. “Yeah, sure. I’ll be there right after.”

As he let go of your arm and walked away, you stood there and felt so dizzy yet alive. Quickly, you walked over to Hodge and explained him everything about your latest mission. He eyed you closely, and you knew that he must have noticed that you’re jumpy and excited for something. 

As soon as he thanked you, you smiled and walked faster in the direction to Alec’s room. You stopped yourself as you stepped through the door and glanced at Alec, who was sitting on his bed. Your hand reached to the door frame to get yourself some more hold. 

“Hey,” you said. 

His mouth hitched to a little smile which didn’t hold on very long. “Everything alright?” you asked worried and came closer to him. You touched his upper arm to show him you were there for him as you sat down on his bed. Did something happen? 

“Yeah, so far,” he answered and shored his elbows on his knees while he ran his hands throughs his hair. “I’m just confused.”

You didn’t ask him why he was confused, you just asked him if he even wanted to talk about this. Alec touched your hand lightly as you grabbed his and hold it close. 

“Is it about Magnus?” you dared yourself to ask him. 

Actually, you didn’t want to talk about Magnus, not because you didn’t like him but because you knew it might hurt Alec feelings. Ever since he met him, he’s been more confused about his life than ever. You understood him––this was the first time he seemed to fall for somebody and he felt hard for this warlock. T

he only thing that kept him from being together with Magnus was himself. Alec was always somebody who took his responsibilities before his happiness. You didn’t want to change him, however if he wants to be happy, he has to stop standing in his own way. 

“It’s not completely about him,” Alec replied. 

“What else?” you comforted him. “You can talk to me about it, Alec.” 

“I’ve been thinking about a lot of things. Magnus is confusing me, and I don’t know what to do but I guess, it’s something I have to figure out by myself. The other thing is something I’m fearing—it’s us.” 

You tightened your grip around his hand without hurting him. “Why us?” 

Your heart shuttered in your chest. You’ve thought about the idea of Alec and you being together as a couple but it felt wrong, especially now that there’s Magnus in his life. You wanted him to be happy and you knew you could have a part in it as a friend for him, not as his potential girlfriend. 

“Besides Jace and Izzy, you’re one of the few persons I truly trust. I don’t know how all of this is going to turn out—with the little girl and Jace. Magnus and possibly me,” he tried to put it together in words. “You’re a part of my family, Y/N, and I don’t want to lose my family.” 

All of sudden feeling his strong arm around your waist made you feel more awake and alive than before as every color around seemed too more brighter. “You won’t lose me,” you promised him and sat even closer to him as you wrapped your arms around him. 

“Between us always has been something. I can’t define it but it’s important to me and if Magnus means more to me than I think, I hope you will be still here.” he said. Hearing such words out of his mouth was usual of him but it somehow made you feel pretty proud of him. 

You smiled brightly, not even thinking about resisting it. “As sorry I am to say this but I’m going to friendzoned you now. We are friends, Alec, we are a family, that’s all what matters, isn’t it?” 

Alec shook his head and laughed lightly. “Yeah, I think it is,” 

“Do you know what?” you asked him. “I think I’ve never witnessed you being so emotionally nice.”

Immediately, Alec groaned and pushed you off him. “Oh, shut up, Y/N.”

So excited for Malec! Omg I was so happy he didn't get married I was screaming at my laptop like"no don't marry her" omg thank god he stood up to his parents!

Addicted to Alec from Shadowhunters. Omg this character is amazing. If you ever want to watch a show i suggest shadowhunters. It is way better than the movie. #Malec for the win
